Well I'm not suprised it's McBrides. On general I've found that they are more expensive and less helpful than others here in Austin. In general the salesmen there are very opinionated in my experience. The exception to that would be George up in the black powder/milsurp room upstairs. The only reason I go to them is if I need a fit an odd gun into a holster, as I did when looking for an IWB for my FM Detective, as their limited selection is still the best I've found in town and fitting odd guns takes trial and error.
I don't know of any of the shops in San Antonio, but if you need a shop in Austin try Tex Guns on Manchaca Rd. Thier selection is much smaller than McBrides, but they are knowledgable and are willing to sell you whatever you want to buy. They'll also have those High Power mags you wanted, if you haven't already gotten some. But for the best price on magazines you'll need to shop online or wait and catch the Saxet Gun and Knife show down in SA and get some milsup mags there.
