• Possible Downtime Alert

I am working to migrate THR from the current cluster to a new one. I would like to get this done before the weekend, but it's unclear what the timeframe will be, as testing is still ongoing. As I am writing this the new (rebuilt) host is doing a burn-in to ensure that everything will keep running under load.

When the migration happens users will see a Cloudflare message indicatating it cannot connect to the server. This is expected, and depending on how the migration goes this may last from 30 minutes to 3 hours - I won't know more until testing the various migration options is complete and I have finalized the plan.

More information is available in this thread.

As always, thanks so much for your patience.

Where are Springfield Mil-Specs made?

Since Armscor and RIA clones are from the Phillipienes and the Llama clones are from Spain, and since there are a lot of lower end 1911s made world wide, where is the SA Mil Spec from? Reason I ask is that I've heard it has a load of parts from Brazil and that even some of SA's higher end models are from Argentina!

I shot a Brazilian made 1911 clone (a rental that actually had Brazil stamped on the side in Portugese-who made that?) and even though it jammed once or twice out of a 50 box, it was old and well used but it sure still did feel quite solid and functioned safely. Maybe a foreign made clone isn't as bad as so many posts have argued they are.

All of Springfields frames and slides are made by Imbel in Brazil, no matter what model. Some are assembled there and some here. I believe serial numbers that start with "NM" prefix are assembled here. That was from Deb at Springfield, last year, in response to a thread on the 1911 Forum.

I dunno 'bout you, but once or twice out of 50 tries is pretty bad. That wouldn't even make for a good range beater unless the purpose was to
practice malfunction clearance drills.

Sounds ta me like that puppy needs a good tunin'...:p
