Where are they made? I still care

They make the vast majority of their products in Brazil. What cannot be imported due to the GCA of 1968, they make that here and that's their little .22LR tilt barrel and now their little striker fired .22LR since neither meet the sporting point for importation.

The TCPs were made in the USA for that reason. I haven't kept up with the newer Taurus pocket guns, but I'd guess they are made in the USA as well.

I can read gun reviews hour after hour, and not one dam author will tell me the country of origin. I'm finally thinking of getting a "plastic" semiautomatic 9mm pistol. I would like to confirm whether the S&W M&P 2.0 series, and the equivalent offerings from Ruger are made in America, or the percentage thereof if they are a mix of foreign/domestic parts. Any other steers to American pistols would be appreciated as well. Thanks for any assistance.
By law imported guns have to have the country of origin stamped on the gun somewhere "obvious." Completed frames are "firearms" by law and therefore would require the full set of markings (country of origin, model, importer and importer address).

So, if one strikes your fancy run down to the local gun shop, handle one and read for yourself.

The Springfield XD and CZ pistols are the only common ones that come to mind that are not currently USA made. Older Glocks were made in Austria, but the bulk of them are USA made now.

The CZ P10 series is now being made in the USA. Glocks are made in the USA and Austria, have to check the actual gun you're buying if it matters.

As of 2019...my G48 I just got was made in Austria.
Many glocks are made in the US and Austria. Its just luck of the draw. Same goes for Beretta M9A3's, some are made in Tennessee, others are made in Italy. Other guns, like the WASR-10 AKM clone are built completely in another country (Romania in the case of the WASR) in a form that is legally importable (they only accept single stack mags from the factory) and then the importer (Century Arms) modifies the rifle to make it more desirable on the US market (they mill out the mag well to make it accept standard AKM pattern magazines).

I agree. The ONLY Glock exclusively made in the US is the Glock 42..to get around the 'scoring' system for US sold handguns. G42 not made in Austria. AFAIK.

If the S&W Walther PPK/S was any indication, I'd take the one made in its original country on original machinery.

But I'm sure the US made Sigs, Glocks, and Berettas are fine.

The Ruger and S&W you mention are both made here in the US I believe. I generally look for made in America by an American company first. I do own and enjoy others, and don't have a problem with those that choose that route. Freedom of choice is great :) Enjoy it.

Yes, though I think it depends on what it is or in what quantity it is ordered.

I'm not sure. I know for a fact that even the thread used to make the BDU pants had to be made in USA so everything may be that way.

The ONLY Glock exclusively made in the US is the Glock 42

The only Glock I have that says USA is the Glock 44. Is it not exclusive to the USA.

I have sigs with all kinds of combos. German frame/Exeter slide. All German. All Exeter.....

I have a new SW MP 2.0 CORE ordered. From my research, the vast majority of it is made here. When I get it,I'll compare it to the 2 German pistols we just bought. Resized_20210214_073251.jpeg

"Where are they made? I still care."
Are you more concerned about where they are actually made or where (which country) the money is going to ?

Taurus' US HQ is mostly for receiving and shipping, not manufacturing. I've been to their new place. It is out in the middle of nowhere in Bainbridge, GA.

That is just down the road from me; too bad they couldn't keep their move just south of the border; my county could have used the jobs.

Sadly, the US Commerce Dept allows products made with parts from outside the country to be labeled Made in US if the finished product is assembled here.

As does every other country. Many high-end English "best guns" made in Italy get the final file strokes applied in England and thus get labeled "Made in England"
This whole Covid explosion in northern Italy was a result of Chinese workers from Wuhan working there making leather goods and other products - all so they could be labeled "Made in Italy", even though they used Chinese slave labor and not unionized Italian craftsfolks.

I consider my S&W Plastic M&P and my Ruger Plastic LC9s to be "made in USA" by US owned companies. But who knows how many small parts come in from Indomim.

My STI says "made in Texas", even better.

If the concern is where the money is going, buy used. I’m not badmouthing, but I’m not trading my XD or RIA for a Taurus or Highpoint.

All of my many Sigs were made in the USA and have been working flawlessly. They are plenty accurate as well.

I have German and US made Sigs. The ones from the States are not as refined. It’s sort of like comparing a Colt Python made today vs 1975.
For the most part, US craftsmanship has slipped.

I have a Taurus G3 which says Bainbridge, GA on the slide and made in Brazil on the frame. Pretty confusing.
Is Bainbridge, GA a legal headquarters or a manufacturing plant?

Both. They have a new factory/offices in Bainbridge, GA.

To me, Sig is a better marketing company than manufacturing company.

Credit where it's due, no matter if you buy a Glock made in Georgia or one from Austria..they're like McDonald's Big Macs..they're exactly the same whether you're in Portland Maine or Portland Oregon.
