Been thinking it would be fun to have an extra Cylinder for my Remington .44 Cap & Ball Revolver...which is a 'Uberti'.

What is the best recourse?

Call Uberti? Or contact other suppliers?

Too bad its not a Pietta Cabela's has them for $50.00 .44 cal I bought two a while back for my .36 cal they fit like a glove.

I bought one at Cabela's when I bought my revolver. Made by Uberti. Can't tell the difference between the spare and the one that came with the gun.

Also consider Dixie Gun Works in Union City, TN (www.dixiegunworks.com).

While you're at it, take a hint from the Old Fuff and spend $5.00 to buy a printed copy of their over-700 page catalog. It's a "best buy" for the money, and the price hasn't gone up since the Old Fuff was a kid. Would you believe I could take it to school and not get kicked out?

Thanks Old Fuff..!

Will do.

I had kind of forgotten about them, so I appreciate the mention.

My mom and dad and I visited Dixie Gun works in 1963.

As we were about to walk in, Mr. Kirkland was pulling up in a roughly 1935 Packard Limosine, Chaufer Driven.

We paused, and I walked over, and not knowing who he was, I said "That is one nice Packard you have there..." ( I was ten ) and he says, "Thank you...do you know old Cars then?" And I said, "Only that I like them, and I can tell a Packard from a Buick from a Pierce Arrow from a Chrysler, from a Nash, from Hupmobile, from Marmon, from a..."

And he was laughing good naturedly, amused, and looking over to my parents.

He asked them if it would be alright for me to come with him for a spin, and they said sure, so...we went for a drive in the Packard, and you know, those are like powerful electric Streecars for smooth...it was sure fun.

Mr. Kirkland was ( and I hope is still around to continue to be! ) a true Gentleman and a good sport...very good people.

I met his son a few years ago at a Gun Show here...seemed like a fine fellow also...we had a nice conversation.

P.S.

I checked their listings, and, indeed, they carry extra Cylinders for the Uberti Remingtons...looks good!

Ohhhhhhhhh...yeeeeeeesh.

Sorry to hear.

I recon he did more for Black Powder in the 1960s and most of since, than just about anyone.

I do not know when DGW started.

Dixie can tent to be more expensive that other sources, but they do have stuff no one else has.

True, but only in some cases, and in exchange you get great service, outstanding expertise, and super selection. That, and where else can you get a 700+ page printed catalog filled with products, advise, information and more for only five bucks?

Actually, for present purposes, the Uberti New Army mit 'notches' Cylinder which Dixie Gun Works lists, is 'Blue', and uhhhh, I think it was like $84.00. No 'Stainless' version being offered far as I could tell.

The other outfit, only had the Stainless Steel version, and it was like $117.00...no 'Blue' being offered.

Not that I am trying to be cheap, but, I could be just fine with a Blue one I recon.

And, all in all, Dixie wise, if they have something I can use, and it is a little more dough than somewhere else, that is alright with me, I would spring for it just because they have been such a great place for so darned long, offering all sorts of things reasonably-enough price wise, which pretty well no one else had.

I guess they do not sell Powder or Caps?

I could not find any, anyway...

So...my Dixie 'Shopping Cart' has now the Cylinder, and, a Catalogue...and still looking to see what all else I might get for the present Order.

Trouble is, I don't hardly need anything else...isn't that terrible?

Jeez...VTI wants $85 for their Pietta 1858 Remington cylinder in .36 cal...Cabelas gets $40 for the same one...guess who I buy mine from??

I'm a ".44" man though...and if I installed a .36 Caliber Cylinder into Mr. 44 Rem, I would worry about loosing some precious FPS.

I will have-a-peek at what Cabelas may have in the .44 way of faith Cylinders though...appreciate the tip!

Oyeboten...Cabelas gets $49.99 for the Pietta .44 Remington cylinder...don't know about the Uberti's

Oh eeeeesh, sorry about the multiple posts there, I had no idea that had happenned.

Oh I know...I do not 'need' anything...it's just a way of referencing a common term people use when trying to leverage or justify a reason.

IF one desires to have a second Cylinder...then...obtaining one, is what one 'needs' to do, if the desire is to be satisfied, even if one does not desire anything else right then... ( would be the full disclosure on that...)

Lol...

I think I did look at 'Cabelas' the other day, and did not find a listing for any Uberti Remington Cylinders...but, since my memory is shot, I will look again to make sure.

If I have to go look a third time, and they still do not carry them...well, maybe time to send off for some of that Ginko Tea...if anyone carries it.

You know if you added up how much we as a group spend on black powder guns and accessories in the past year. I bet it would be somewhere around 10 grand easy. With that someone needs to get a hold of DGW or one of the others and strike up a THR deal. It would be pretty cool if we could get a small discount from one of these places. We all know were going to buy more stuff. If they made it worth our effort i bet we would give them a heck of a lot of business.

No doubt... I bought a dozen or so (BP guns) myself last year... AND all the gear that goes with 'em to shoot/clean etc. !!!

Very true...

One way to do this, might be for 'Group Buys' to occur...striking the Deal of course with the supplier first, where a bunch of Sales could happen at the same moment, as a larger Order is submitted...even if shipping would be to respective subscribers...I guess...
