I was wondering if anyone knew where to buy a full length (adult size), wood stock (preferably in walnut) for a Remington Model Seven .243 Winchester rifle. I'm looking for one as I just recently bought a Rem. 7, only it's stock had been cut down to fit a teenager, a woman or a short statured man. I'm hoping that I can find a full length stock that was previously taken off of another Rem. Model 7 and I was thinking that it might be cheaper that way. I was hoping to pay between $50 to $80.

I've seen them at gun shows for about $40 to $50, but the next gun show locally isn't until next month and I really didn't want to wait that long to start on this. I've looked on the web and the only place I can really find that sells these stocks in wood is Boyds, they're about $68 new. The rest of the stocks I've found are going for around $100 to $159. That's a little to expensive for what I've got into it. I didn't really want to go with a synthetic stock, I like the look and feel of wood a little bit better.

Also, if I went with a company like Boyd's that makes new stocks, is it necessary to glass bed the barrel in order for the rifle to be accurate? I've heard differing opinions regarding this and I've only recently started shooting bolt action hunting rifles. Before this, I was almost entirely a pistol and a shotgun shooter, with the exception of a few military style rifles.

Thanks for any answers.
