Where to find a deal on Sig Sauer P6 or p225

Forgive my ignorance, but what makes the P6/225 so desirable? Widener's is local to me and I saw that ad for P6s but then I read "9mm single stack" and thought "who cares?"

So what makes 'em uber special?

Nothing makes them uber special except that they are nicely balance, well made, accurate easy shooting 9mms. They are mini-P220s in 9mm. They are classic examples of what made Sig great. For many people with smaller hands double stacks are simply to big or do not fit in their hand properly. IMHO people are too hung up on capacity. I will take 8 rounds in a gun that fits me vs 17 in a gun which is too big. YMMV

Weight/balance/grips - what they offer the shooter

...

2 things IMHO -

Thin grips via single stack mags like the 2, fine guns, below compared to each other - both single stack mag/9mm's, both balanced, very very accurate shooters that just get better the more ya shoot them. OMMV

IF you can find one used P6 or NIB P225 (yep, still a few out there "of late")

Buy one,

I like 1911s, too :D

Thanks for the response. To me, there are just so many options out there that hold 13, 15, 17+ rounds of 9mm and are of a similar size that a single stack 9mm better be really, really accurate or have some other cool feature or just be dirt cheap. But everyone's priorities are different. I don't have small hands, so a double stack is preferred in 9mm for me.

ETA: Just in case anyone would like to read a thorough review, here's an excellent one by the late Stephen Camp:

Grip comes first, no doubts

...

I hear ya there, luckily, I have the size hands/fingers that can go either way, thin grip or double-stack

I took the plunge and just ordered at P6 from Widener's. I have not bought from them before so I will hope for the best.
I do have a question : when I bought this online I was expecting to be asked about my choice of FFL to ship the P6 to but I was not.
How does this work? Do I need to call Widener's with my FFL choice? I know I need tell the FFL about my transaction so the can receive it for me.
Any advice please would be helpful. I am looking forward to shooting a P6 which I will add to my other Sigs (220 and 229).

Thanks all.

P6

Did you ever get that p6 from wideners?? Did you have to purchase with the info from your FFL???? What kind of shape is the p6 in?

Thanks

I did my P6 after 1 month of waiting. The Widener's lady on the phone said when I called that my FFL info had just come in (which was wrong - FFL said they faxed it to Widener's when I asked them to). I do believe I gave Widener's the FFL info when I ordered. I asked the FFL that same day to be on the lookout for my order and they sent their info the Widener's.
The P6 looks pretty good. Some wear on outside as expected. The FFL said he thought it probably had about 500 rounds ever fired through it.
I took it out and shot 100 rounds a couple weeks ago without any issues. It is a good pistol... but I'm still really enjoying my P229 SAS in 9mm. That one for me is a nice smooth easy shooting gun!
