I'm thinking about purchasing a Pedersoli military type musket.
Really like the Charleville's.
Been looking around for vendors but all I've found is Dixie and Cherry's.
They both seem kinda expensive.

Can you folks point me to other vendors?
Surely the re-enactors know more places.

The N-SSA nationals in Winchester or one of the shoots in Friendship. Not in anyway trying to be "smart" but if you are looking for a bargain, you're gonna have to try buying from an individual.

Go to a black powder match, rendezvous or some sort of black powder meet. Sutlers are usually in attendance. Also check out the N-SSA website for used stuff.

Cabelas

Try Cabelas. They have Brown Bess, Enfield and several other flintlock muskets and rifles. I would call or email them about getting a French musket which they probably would do for you. The prices look fairly reasonable, too.

I bought the Pedersoli Brown Bess about a decade ago and it still looks great hanging over my door. :D

You won't find many flintlock repros at the N-SSA Nationals. If there are any there, they're likely to be at the Dixie Gun Works booth. You could just as well order them from Dixie directly.

Cabelas has been running a sale on the Pedersoli Short Land Pattern Brown Bess for several months now. It's marked down from $1300 to $1100 and that's about the best price I've seen anywhere for NIB.

There are minor inaccuracies' in markings and design, but your only other choice is a more expensive custom or a less expensive India made import. I chose the latter and am quite happy with my purchase. The India version may not be as well finished as the Pedersoli's but they are more authentically marked.

The Pedersoli Brown Bess muskets pop up on GB.com occasionally, but they are rare enough that they draw a lot of attention and consequently sell for too much--even used.

I haven't seen a Charleville at auction in 6 months, but I might of missed it. They are less plentiful than the Brown Bess, so you are probably not likely to find them discounted.

Here's a link to my original post right after I got my late model long land pattern at a local shop.

Cheers

P.S. I just checked and there is a Pedersoli Brown Bess that is supposedly defarbed for sale right now on G.B.com
It started cheap with no reserve and the fact that there are 4 or 5 other models by other makers up for auction may keep it from getting out of hand.
