He's out in the shed workin on that Wedge
People come and go , nature of the beast .
I have to do the same thing Ratpuppy68 , Mom's needs help selling the house , and the rest of their stuff , heading down South soon , no internet and God only knows how many months this is going to take . Took a sebatacle from Job and life for awhile now , and can't honeslty say when I will be back ? But , being the only son worth a Ratdogs arse , I have to go take care of Pops . Trying times here , sure has been a pleasure knowin most of ya , hee hee hee It is what it is .
Auf Wiedersehen Herr Jaeger. May the road rise to meet you. May the wind be always at yer back and until we meet again may God Hold you in the palm of his hand.
it is what it is , Life .
Were trying to see if can arrange a Notebook type computer , so all hopes not lost , for the PC that tis , hee hee hee .
I really don't look forward to any of this , travel either , Ole boy could last miserably for 20 more years , he's 69 now , and is in the early stages , so its a crapshoot , and not a good one no matter what . I will enjoy my days one at a time though , today , and try not to put worry on tomorow
Jaeger,
I wish you strength and peace in your heart. We lost our dad to that terrible disease. I wish I could tell you more, but that is a path you'll have to find your own way along.
Try not to lose your sense of humor. When things get to be too much and you are being pressed from all sides, step back for a few minutes and have a cup of coffee. The Man upstairs will never give you more than you can handle.
Good luck Das. I'll miss your posts. Hopefully we'll hear from you from time to time via that laptop......that is if you're able to swing it.
I lost my Dad to Parkinson's a few months ago, so I guess I can sense a little of what you may be feeling. It's a rough road you're about to travel, but, just trust God.......He will strengthen you and you'll be fine. So go ahead and do what you have to do to take care of your Dad and cherish every minute you have left with him.
Das Jaeger sorry to hear about your father. I can empathize with you as my mother has Parkinson's and my step-father is showing early signs of Alzheimer's. You just have to take each day as it comes and get through it the best you know how. I wish the best for you.
maybe someday science and Medicine will figure out a better way to treat both of those nasty Deseases . Like the Ruger OA , Parkinsons treatment has come a long way from the old Treatments , just like the Ruger came a long way for Cap and Ball revolvers . I hear Micheal Fox is doing good for many years with the newest treatments for Parkinsons , so maybe someday they can figure out a thing for ALZ too . Sounds like WERE BOTH going to be going through hell eventually . Were not alone , that's good .
Thanks, Jaeger
...have been greatly exaggerated. Actually, I went out shooting the Pietta 1851 last Monday. Here is my post shooting report I filed elsewhere.
I thought I'd give an update on that rascally wedge from hell. I was able to get to ClemBert's shootin' range today to shoot the ever livin' crap out of the Pietta 1851 Navy. I went with 25 grains of 777 without a wad to loosen that puppy up. When I got home I took both of my brass punches and proceeded to bend them both....big surprise huh? Now they both look like the one on the right.
Now it was time to break out the wedge destructo tool...a big STEEL punch. With a big ol' framing hammer I hit that sucker once...no movement. I reset the punch then took another big swing and to my delight that wedge popped free. Hallelujah!!!
Got that puppy cleaned up in a hot soapy bath and baked her dry. I changed out the factory nipples with some Treso bronze nipples. Anti-seize grease on both the nipple threads and the wedge from hell. Fortunately the wedge didn't suffer too much damage from the steel punch. There's just a round dent in it where the punch made contact but not too noticeable.
ClemBert thanks that made for some great reading.
BTW its also the reason I haven't shot my 1851 from them, brand new and I can't get the wedge out to clean it before I shoot it
