That's barely broken in. I got my Marlin Golden 39-A Mountie in 1963, late '63, so I haven't had it quite 50 years yet. Good rifle, and it balances well with the 20" barrel and straight stock.

Henry Golden Boy w/Skinner brass peep sight and a hi-visibility front bead. Speed/accuracy of a red dot sight and keep the overall traditional looks.

Didn't vote, no Marlin option, and for me? Being able to find 39a's for under 300otd, makes it easy. I wouldn't nay say anything about Henry, but i don't like the misleading information on their website (and evidently from documentation received sooth their rifles). And i have got all my 22 Marlin levers for 280 and less(lowest was a 1894 in 22mag for 175), haven't seen a Henry new/used theses days for under 250(the Marlins were in the last 18 months).

A. Bought it from the little ole blind widder lady.

It's nice to know that the "resale" on my Henrys is better than the "resale" on your 39's... lol

Cb900 Pawn shops my friend. I thought they got a mountie in, and they would have went even lower. I called a friend and he picked up the two 39a's they had for 175 apiece also.it wasn't in the best condition, but really worth more.

Nope, but I'm no longer in that area i used to haunt..... Still finding deals though, 224otd for abrand new s&w 642, deals are out there. If i find a Winchester 9422 for a song and dance (or the Browning for that matter) I'll snatch them up to.

I am also fond of the Marlin 39. I had one a few years back and regretted parting with it.

Well, it was the Winnie...

Well folks, yesterday I went to an LGS and he put a 9422 in my hands and it had to follow me home. He also had a commerative Marlin but it was twice the price.

Think I got a good deal, plenty of ammo thrown in as well.

I've owned a BL-22 for over 30 years and I love it...looks, feel, reliable, accuracy, etc. Wish it was made in the U.S. or Belgium. Glad its not made in China!

The Winchester is probably the finest, domestically made levergun in the last 50yrs. Followed by the Marlin. Older, pre-safety Marlins still being quite affordable, tend to be fit and finished better than later offerings. The Brownings are also excellent rifles and well made, although the revised design and Japanese origin may offend some purists. Henry's are decent guns for the money but you get what you pay for. Pot metal and plastic offends others and we are usually called snobs for our trouble. Personally, I prefer to pay more for better rifles.

Do like my 9422 XTR's one in .22LR and one in .22 Mag, both are tack drivers, and both were bought brand spanking new in the mid 1970s thus no additional idiotic safeties. Wouldn't part with either of them.

More than a few very nice .22 lever-action rifles have been made but the Marlin Model 39 is one of those iconic firearms that I think every serious firearm aficionado should own.
