Which .40 Would You Choose

Ill carry the one that allows me to shoot 9mm or .45 . I am not a caliber whore , but i just have not yet found a .40 s&w that i like .

I had a H&K USP full size, bought back in '94 maybe. (it came with full capacity mags.) I foolishly got rid of it. If I was going to get another .40, it would be another USP variant 1. I like the ability to carry condition 1.

I am a big Glock fan in 9mm but the Glock 23 and .40 caliber is a little snappy for me.

I agree with Glockman19 on this. I own a Glock 23 and recoil can be downright brutal with hot loads.

That is why two days ago I bought a S&W 4006. It is all steel and much heavier than the Glock. I haven't fired it yet, but I am expecting that weight to go a long way in taming .40 recoil.

I own a P99 .40, but in the AS trigger. My only glock is a 34. I love them both for different reasons, but I will tell you this. If you hold a P99 you'll be hard pressed to put it down. I believe that it has the most natural feeling grip in the game.

its all about the glock. althought the USP is awsome as well. when it comes to dealing with the companys though, glock wins hands down. the walther p99. dad had it, shot it, let me shoot it, we both decided that we strongly disliked the trigger pulls, so it was sold. shortly after that walther sold the rights for the p99 to S&W, who made a run and then stoped making them (don't ask me when).

I own three Glocks and think the world of them, but... last night I shot a Springfield XD45 back to back with my Glock 21 and found I much prefered the Springfield. I'm not going to get rid of my Glocks anytime soon, since my 26 is still more compact than an XD-9 subcompact and Springfield makes nothing comparable to my 36. I bought my 21 years before Springfield introduced the XD-45 so I didn't have an option, but if I was buying a full-sized .45 now, I'd probably go with the Springfield. (I can't say for certain until I try one of the new 21s with a slimmer grip.) If I was buying a full-sized .40 caliber today, I'd pick the Springfield over either the Glock or the Walther/S&W P99.

If you decide to go with the Walther then go with the Anti-Stress (AS) trigger system. Its an excellent trigger is all I have been told. The Glock does have a nice trigger as well but all around the HK P2000 LEM is the best. ;)

get the glock. 22, 23, or 27, they all are kicka-- pistols that will suit youfor many years. Walther, isn.t that a sub-species of s&w? why not cal a smith a smith.

I just picked up an XD40 not long ago and I'm very happy with it. Recoil wise I've heard the M&P 40s are softer shooting, but I've yet to try.

Here's my XD40 in bitone:

I would go with the glock 23. Also if you are looking to save a few dollars look at a smith and wesson 40VE it is almost the exact same size as the glock 23 and is the same to field strip. When it comes to the inner workings there are slight differences and the trigger is a true double action as opposed to the glocks "safe-action". I was in the market for a glock 23 and a friend let me use his smith. I bought the smith instead.
