Am searching for an EDC in 9mm. Looked at S & W shield +, a Shield equalizer, and a Sig 365 XL.

My preferences are Reliability, Ease of use, Weight, and personal feel. Also, I want to keep it under $900. The Sig was the best so far, But the slide would not lock back after the last round. The salesman did not know if that was normal.

Any of you really big on your EDC and maybe let me know why? Prefer to carry OTWB.

Its wide open today ..budget for anyone
Really good carry pistols from $250 on up
I personally try to carry a true compact
19ish size at times I carry smaller like a GX4
Im in the process of making my primary a
CZ P-10C .. probably the best value on one of the best quality polymer striker fired pistols you can find … I just got finished running another 100rds through it …
But as I mentioned its wide open

Second on the P-10C - been carrying one for 6 years now, great sidearm. Also the P-10S, slightly smaller, but shoots just as well. Both can be found sub $400.

S&W Shield Plus & SA Hellcat are great choices. They can be purchased for the $600 range or less. That leaves $300 for practice ammo🙂
If you would like to have a 9mm backup you could, buy the Shield or Hellcat and a Taurus GX4 and be in the $900 range.
I have shot the Sig 365 and just plan and simple did not like it 😒

I would definitely go with a micro compact 9mm, over the sub compacts and compacts for CCW. Good capacity and accurate!

HK VP9, Walther PDP, Sig P320, Springfield XDM, M&P9 2.0, FN 509 and my favorite the SAR9 C.

The best recommendation is to go to a rental range and try them out. Then buy the type you're most accurate with at 12ft when you're rushing to get the gun on target. Use the same ammo across all of them. Once you find what you're fast on target with that you get a consistent fist sized group on target then decide which of those based on reliability and price. Note the order is fit to make hits, go bang every time you need it, and then price.

My wife is quick from the holster and accurately on target with a CZ compact.
For me it is a BHP, but a Colt New Agent is a close second.

I went with a SIG P365 (eventually two of them) when deciding on a small CCW pistol. I was considering the Shield Plus and G43X most strongly as competition against it, and the Hellcat a bit further distant. I like and trust SIG (I have a P229, I used to have another P229 and a P226, and at the time I still had an old P290RS and P250 Compact), though I also like and trust S&W and I don't have anything against the others. The SIG felt right in my hand, and after I bought it, it is so comfortable to shoot and so accurate for me that I know I made the right choice.

After about 6 months of near daily carrying I wanted to add a second carry gun (I live in MD, I couldn't get a local CCW permit until Bruen, I am a teacher so I can't carry to work so I don't carry on days I don't leave the house after I get home from work). I don't carry a dirty gun, I like to have several range sessions before I clean a gun, and I don't want to go too long without shooting my carry gun. So, I was going to buy a 2nd carry gun, one to shoot for a couple months while I carried the other. At first, I thought I'd go with the G43x (it had been a close 2nd when I bought my P365), but in the end I bought a 2nd P365. I am a fan of variety, even in carry guns I'm OK with somewhat of a rotation as long as they have a similar MOA, and I went with a duplicate, so that should say something about how highly I think of my P365.

One problem that isn't uncommon with the P365, the front night sight can go dim, happened with my spare P365. Other than that, I have had no issues with 2-3K rounds through each gun. I haven't yet sent it to SIG to fix it, but I doubt I'll have any trouble when I do.

I'm not a 9mm guy but I bought the Walther PPQ for my wife. I had never fired a polymer gun before and was thoroughly impressed with this handgun. Best factory trigger out of the box and very accurate to shoot. Don't have many experience with 9mm as I carried a 1911 for decades and now I carry a 686. But based on the one time I have fired my wife's Walther I would recommend this one .

Two others that will make some here groan, moan and rail against these options are the Taurus G3 and the Taurus TH9 Compact (external hammer). Despite what some here lost in the past will tell you they are both excellent, reliable firearms with a whole new focus on costumer service and warranty turnaround times if needed. Been that way for a little while now.
I own a G3, that thing is amazing. It ain't your father's Taurus....... ;)

I've carried a Glock 19, Glock 48, Glock 43X, Glock 19 X, Hellcat Pro. Recently acquired a Taurus GX4 and like it very much. 11+1, decent trigger, feels good in my hand, shoots like a bigger gun. I think it's going to be my EDC after a few more rounds for reliability. 100 or so to date with no issues. $325 out the door.

365xl is my cc weapon with 12 rd mag. I really like the sig night sights. Flat trigger is a plus. Carries well and is accurate. I bought it a while back to see what the fuss was about. Parked my 1911 commander after that. I let my wife shoot it one day and had to go buy another. I just put an EPS dot on it and just made it even more accurate...

I carry a SIG P365 with a Shield red dot every day. I use the flush-fit 10 round mags and pocket carry it in a Sticky holster. For me, it’s the perfect synthesis of light weight, controllability, accuracy and power. I used to carry a Smith 637; the SIG is a little heavier but is more accurate, carries twice the rounds, and has better terminal performance. Loaded with Underwood 124 grain hollowpoints (1200 fps out of the 3.1” barrel), i can make quick hits on a standard silhouette target out to 50 yards. It has never malfunctioned. I really can’t imagine a better carry gun, so I stopped looking for one. :)

I have (2) CZ PCR's that are reliable with everything I have shot through them including SWC. They are a quality gun and their weight is on par with other guns in this size range. They can be bought with either a de-cocker or manual safety. I did switch out the sights for Dawson Fiber Optics.

My Kahr CM9 has been trouble-free and it is smaller. slimmer and lighter than any of the other pistols so far mentioned. It does have a very revolver-like feel to the trigger which some people love and others really hate.
