My experience with 4 different LCPs (mine and 3 belonging to guys I shoot with) is that each has been reliable. In as much, as they are back up guns and not primary carry guns they do not have super high round counts by any means.
I attended a three day concealed carry class. A woman there had a 380 body guard that only made it through the first day and crapped out on day two. I never did hear what the exact nature of failure was. I did bring a glock and gear for her so she could finish day three since her gun went belly up. That is my lone experience with a body guard. I know she had bought it just prior to the class and we had fired at most 150-200 rounds.
Frankly, if one wants a small BUG or deep concealment gun the LCP fills that role well in my experience. If one is looking for a primary concealed carry gun I wouldn't get either. Even if I was inclined to go really small and light for a primary it wouldn't be either of those guns. They give up too much in terms of performance in my estimation.
