For anything in North America?

.30-06 .338 or .375H&H.

The .30-06 might be a bit light for for the biggest stuff in the worst conditions, the .375H&H is just a .30-06 with a bit more horsepower. You'll never be wondering if you've got enough gun in North America with an H&H. The .338 is a really good balanced do it all round for North America as well.

In the lower 48 only the 06 is a pretty solid choice.

Haven't heard of any complaints on the. 270 and i don't have any at all. Or my. 308 or my 280.

Sent from my DROID RAZR

I just noticed that you have a poll up. Of the choices for an all around gun the CZ in 9.3 is the most practical and usable.

The 9.3 is pretty much the European version of the .35 Whelen for intensive purposes.

As far as repeat shots goes we all used to think, upon hearing rapid shot in the woods, wow that guy is really mowing them down. After a lot of years of hunting I now think, shame he did not shoot well. If you do not get it after the first, and best, shot you are starting to rely more on luck than skill. In my old age I am first starting to use a single shot rifle.

Remington model 700 in 30 06. If your list does not suit me I see no reason to choose from it.

I trust my Marlin 444 for anything I must come across in the wild.

I am a master typist, my Kindle fire goes out of its way to make me look bad.

If were talking hunting and things aren't charging you, you've listed some great 200 yardish rounds for hunting.

If were talking hunting and stopping a mad at the world grizzly as well as hunting, you need a BAR in 338 Win Mag or a Model 70 in 375 H&H mag.

If its the former and not the later, I'd use the BLR 358 Win.

Remington mo0del 700 in 30 06. I refuse to feel bound by your choices, sir.

Thinking about the large elk Arizona is noted for and some of the long distances involved, I'd opt for the 338 WinMag.

Of the choices given, I'd go with the 9.3x62mm, great caliber given its range limitations. I have some 9.3 loaded from years ago, never got around to buying the CZ and opted for the 338 WinMag instead.

I vote for the write in candidate, the Remington 700 BDL in 30 06. Why? Because I can.

Alaska: I could hunt Alaska with two rifles and a shotgun. A .22LR and a .35 Whelen or .338-06, plus a 12GA.

Lower 48: The BLR in .358 Win is not a bad choice. .338 Marlin Express would also work well. I also like the .284 Win and the .280 Rem.

With the need for a brown bear hunt or a lone hunter in brown bear country , The ruger hawkeye in 375 ruger. It will do what the 375h&h will do in a shorter rifle. And with control feed.

With out the brown bear to worthy over or you have a guide or back up a 7mm rem mag will take anything in the rest of N A.

If its just one rifle for everything its a winchester model 70 in 338 win mag for me.
That being said, there are two rifles in my collection that I use for hunting anything I have or ever will hunt.
1) winchester model 70 extreme weather 338 win mag
2) sako 85 classic 25-06
