When I go running I like to carry using a belly-band. This works pretty well with either my 340PD, or my Kel-Tec P11. Needless to say the gun gets pretty sweaty. My question is, which gun can better withstand this situation? Does the finish on the 340PD stand up well to sweat and moisture? How does the stainless steel slide of the Kel-Tec react to sweat? Is there any other consideration? Which one should I carry when I run?

I'm not familiar with the 340PD, but the P11 slide is not stainless. If it's got the hard chrome finish, it's protected fairly well. If it's blued, not so much.

I would carry a keltec p32, 10 ozs loaded and you can get a hard chromed version. You wont even know its there when you are out and about.

I've been looking into getting a belly-band for running and would carry a 642. Have you considered inserting a plastic sandwich bag into the holster and placing the gun inside the bag? I've not tried this and have no idea if it would work -- unless you have some sort of retention strap it might be too slippery for a secure hold. It would protect the gun from sweat though.

You're right. I didn't mean to say stainless. It's hard chrome.

Container of 10% Pepperguard is a lot lighter.
OC spray also requires that the user pre-arrange that the attacker be nice enough to approach only from downwind. OC is not useless, but it is limited in usefulness.

It seems to me that either of the OP's weapon will work well enough, if protectant is kept in place, and attention is paid to maintenance. When my knees still allowed me to run for the sake of running, I used an Uncle Mike's belt pouch to carry an Airweight J-snub. For the fast walkng and small amount of running I currently do, to keep the pooches exercised, I wear any handgun I want, from a J-frame to SP101 to K-frame or P229, in a Safepacker from the wilderness.com . These nylon pouches protect the weapon well.

I carry a Glock 26 in a pistol wear holster when I run. I have run in the extreme heat and have been soaked but my pistol was dry.

If you are going to sweat all over it you might want to check out Kahr's line of pistols. They have a very nice matte stainless finish that has so far really held up to my pocket sweat (PM9). I do wipe it down after every use though.

My running gun is a Glock 26 IWB with the Galco Triton holster that has a nifty sweat guard. I still prefer an extra shirt between me and the gun to prevent chafing.

I've got a 360PD and a Kahr PM9. Either one does the trick.

I like the 360PD better, since it's lighter, and the finish and materials seem less likely to screw up. That said, I did have the gun auto-lock during dry firing, and had to have the stupid lock removed.

I now have a gun gunshops won't sell.

I'm thinking the same way. The finish on the 340PD would probably hold up better than the hard chrome on the Kel-Tec. I may also have to look into some sort of sweat guard.

I'd have to say the KT P32, can't beat the package, it's 'enough' gun, very thin and small, so no odd lumps and you could almost carry it in your sock

I've ran with a cheap derringer on my small of back in a running belt with a convenient zipper pocket.
Figure for the price I don't need to worry about it corroding away from my sweat.
And lets face it, I'm not jogging through East Cleveland.
