Which gun should I buy next?

So many opinions-so little time

When my dad was alive I enjoyed shooting with him more than anything! If your dad likes shooting that SKS then If I were you I'd buy another SKS and take dad and his SKS shooting as often as I could. And since I would come in way under budget I would buy 500.00 worth of surplus ammo. From the list you gave however I would buy the Mini 30 and spend the rest on ammo. You have enough stuff already to cover SHTF anyway. Of course there is always assault shotguns, other surplus military like AK's or Century Arms M72 type rifles with the 40 round mags, or so many handguns for under 800.00 that.... wait, my head is spinning and I'm getting teary-eyed! I am getting dressed and taking my son and my newly acquired Ruger 44 carbine out for it's maiden voyage. That's it! You need a Ruger 44 carbine! I ain't kiddin either.

I agree, an AK, I love mine never had any problems. Ammo, clips, and parts are cheap. They are easy to clean and fun to shoot. I have a mini-14 and I hate it, it's not accurate and it is a 1997 model. I hear the newer ones are better now. On mine it never jams, but it will over heat and lock shut. Usually I would have to wait till the next day and take a block of wood and a hammer and pop it open. A cop buddy of mine said that the older mini-14's have a heat restricter in them, that will lock the bolt shut, to make it more 90's anti-assualt friendly. I asked Ruger about this and they never answered me, or offered any suggestions. Have any of you guys heard anything like that?

get something with some longer legs. 308 or 30-06. Garand would be a great choice, along with some Greek ammo. it'll blow the pants off a Mini :barf: and is every bit as reliable as an AK

20" AR with A2 upper from the list.

Non-list ideas: Scout style bolt gun, M77 frontier or even a savage
Mac10/11 in 9mm or 45acp
Mechtech pistol conversion carbine

I'll agree with the "more ammo" posts. I doubt the cost of ammo is going to go down, so in the long run the worst you could do with it as an investment is break even.

Plus, in an apocalyptic situation you could easily use it to bartar for goods or services, especially in a situation where the dollar has no (less?) value.

Do you have at least 1k rounds for each firearm? If not... buy more!

If you have to buy a gun, I'd go with the Mini-30. I own one, plus a Mini-14, an AR-15, an AR-10, and others.

The ammo for the Mini-30 is cheaper than the .223, and the Mini-30 will eat almost anything you put into it. You can get 1k round of 7.62X39 shipped to your door for $200.
