Exactly when did you order this?

Let's see. . . my buddy's birthday is in October (the freak is born on Halloween :neener: ) so I guess it was around October of last year.

Maybe if you are really interested it one, you can call them and try and talk them into giving you last year's price? ;)

Hey! I heard that! :cuss: :D

Get an M39, and don't look back. One of the best milsurps available, period.

The bayo from Interordnance is pretty cool. Kinda crude, but it's a solid, beefy chunk of wood and metal.

I just received my first one today fron Century. It is an M38, factory refinished. I got the excellent version for $79. It has the correct stock, I think, no bayonet slit. It ahs very little cosmo and wiped right up. Overall I am very please. The varnish on the stock is flacking, but I don't care. It is a cool design and very handy. I have 3 various Mausers and this gun is much handier. That being said , the craftmanship isn't nearly as nice as the Mausers. Rough steel and finish, a goofy font post site. Mine is canted - maybe that is how they sighted them in. I'd love to get a M44 and the M91/30.

What year is it? That is stamped on the barrel shank just forward of the reciever, and is a four digit number followed by an "r", which is the Russian shorthand for year. If it's a wartime production, like my M1942 M38 and 1943 91/30, they were definately rushing to get the rifles done, and get them up to the front to stem the Nazi horde! My 1920 91/30 hex reciever is much nicer finish, stampins all lined up etc.
BTW, my rear sight on the M38 is slightly canted - still get 3.5 inches at 100 yards with Wolf ammo.
