I am going to purchase one of these 3 in the next month for sure.

I don't need other suggestions I already have done the research and decided on these 3. They will be used for fun at the range only. I have enough other guns that fill all my needs for carry and defense.

OK Now that we got that out of the way lol

1. Beretta PX4 Storm 9mm - I want this one because it feels good and The only other 9mm I have is an old Sigma that works 100% but its not much fun to shoot after a few hundred rounds because of the heavy trigger. The Beretta has factory 17 round mags and I can get the 20 rounders and blast away as much as I want and just have a good time.

2. Taurus PT1911 - I have one already but I am tired of waiting for the stainless and I love my black PT1911 so I was thinking I could get a 2nd in black and use it for the range and use my old PT1911 do customize. I would like to have it all done in brush nickel or hard chromed or something to that effect and change the grips to something like white or silver carbon fiber, if I can find them.

3. Taurus Raging Bull 500 10" barrel - I have wanted one of these since they came out if for nothing else but to have a blast shooting a hand cannon. I will admit that It would be a nice conversation piece and a way to show off a little. I know that's not what guns are about but Ill admit I like for people to be impressed or shocked by a huge caliber large framed pistol such as this. Plus its just really manly lol sue me Im a guy ok haha

Which one would you guys pick of the 3 and why. Anyone actually own one, two, or all 3. Any input on the three would be welcome.

The Beretta or the 1911.

9mm is cheap, so shooting a lot of it wouldn't cost a whole lot. And of course the 1911 is the 1911. :p

The Raging Bull 500 might be fun to shoot off once or twice, but I doubt it would be comfortable to shoot a whole lot, and it would be extremely expensive, in terms of initial cost and ammunition.

4000 rounds worth of trust

...

Beretta Px4 (40cal in my case) has 4000 rounds to-date, no jams, no failure to fire, just 100%. Rotating barrel reduces recoil, light weight, dependable, accurate out of the box, Easiest Gun to disassemble, inspect, clean, and reassemble, out there, IMO.

Comes in 9mm as well and, will come in 45cal sometime late in 2007, I hope.

PX4! Nice gun, cheap to shoot a lot, large capacity.
PT1911. Nice gun, more expensive to shoot a lot, small capacity.
Raging Bull. Nice gun, too expensive to shoot a lot, small capacity.

I wouldn't recommend Taurus to anyone -- I'm not a fan ;) So, through the process of elimination, I would go w/ the Beretta

Raging Bull all the way! If you want a "fun gun" then this'll open eyes when you take it to the range.

The Raging Bull would be up there with motorcycles and boats: it's not about the money, it's about the fun!

Voted for the Beretta, but only because I think a .500 is impractical (size, weight, ammo price) and I'm not a 1911 guy. If I was a 1911 guy, I may have sided with the PT1911 as I've read that they are well made and reasonably priced.

I don't think you could have picked three less similar guns to compare!

I voted for the Beretta, because it isn't a Taurus.

I like the company's 2nd amendment attitude, but their gun quality is hit or miss.

Thanks for the replys so far guys!

I currently own 9 Taurus semi auto pistols including a PT1911 as stated above and to name a few more I have 2 24/7Pro 45's PT111 Pt145 couple PT22 and 25's all of which are 100% except the PT22 which is a little ammo picky but works fine with remington

Anyway like I said I have all my "fill a need" guns, house guns, carry guns and so on

This will be just for fun, Either the 9mm for lots of cheap shots or another 1911 so I can do something custom to it or a huge hand cannon thats a blast to shoot and gets people talking, not worried about price really its more about the amount of fun. I think 50 rounds of 500 magnum would be as much fun if not more fun then 500 rounds of 9mm, cost about the same but which is going to be more fun ,

I think Im leaning toward the 500 magnum just because I can :D

Just thinking about shooting that gets me all warm and fuzzy inside

:what::what:go with the 500. like you said you already have the utility guns. when you go to the range with taht one you will get some attention. would be fun to watch. and, thats right a little boasting , showing off is not all that bad once in a while.

The Beretta lock-up appeals to my inner Inspector Gadget.

You've already got a PT1911 - I generally don't do two identical examples unless I'm obsessing over parts in a discontinued model (H&K P7) and even that doesn't have any basis in reality - made a nice excuse though. I'm not seeing the advantage to having two in the context of customizing one unless you're concerned the customization would ruin it or it's to be sent off for extended periods.

500 - If it's novelty and recoil therapy you're looking for, abandon the handgun and get a nice light Ruger 1-H in .416 Rigby. The .500's have gotten common and the range babes will ignore you. After 10 rounds the novelty will wear off and you'll have a handgun the size of a cricket bat with a billboard and perforations on the barrel. Not that there's anything wrong with that if you like it.

Would your older Taurus 1911 serve as a good base gun to customize?

Maybe if you plan to go the custom 1911 route picking up a Springfield GI or Mil-Spec and adding on that platform would be a better route.

The Taurus 1911--or, better, a S&W 1911. :)

If shooting a lot of .45 is too expensive, the Beretta or another good 9mm.

Find a friend who owns a 500 and bum a few shots off him now and then.

Taurus?

I have the PT1911 and love it, but I prefer something else to carry. While Gun Tests magazine reported problems with the one they tested, mine has been flawless.

On the other hand, I bought a PT145 (3rd generation) for carry, and while I absolutely love the thing, I'm not happy with it... nice contradiction. It wouldn't reliably go bang... light primer hits. Sent it back and while they greatly improved the reliability... it's now about 1 out of 50 that won't go bang. That still sucks!

So I'll stick with the Beretta 9000S for absolute reliability... even if the trigger isn't nearly as nice at the PT145 and it does weight about half a pound more.

if your looking for cheep fun you cant beat a 22 , a raging bull would get you attention alright but i dont know but i bet the amo aint cheep

Even if someone gave me a Taurus I would not trust my life with it by carrying it. On the flip side - the PX Storm looks like a great weapon.

I voted for the beretta storm because the ammo price is still cheap and 9mm is a ton of fun to shoot,on the other side who would not want another 1911?

The PX4 of the three you listed, because 9mm is really fun range caliber to me.

You seem to like 1911s, cheap ammo, and poweful cartridges; plus you want a customized gun Might I suggest getting a Rock Island 1911 in .38 Super, and having a 9mm barrel fitted? That would get you a 1911 in 9mm for cheap practice, .38 Super for a powerful fun cartridge (with 9x23 Win as more powerful option as well), and the beginnings of a customized gun all in one package.
