Reluctantly I voted for the M1A. But all 3 of those rifles are equal in 'coolness'. All 3 have so much history and nastalgia surrounding them, and are also very functional and fun to shoot, maintain, and collect and so forth.

It would have been even harder if you added the Thompson and Colt 1911 .45 in the mix.

I voted for the M1A because it is a little more versatile than the others and is more 'sexy' by todays standards in that it can be much more tactical and looks more sleek and modern than the rest when tricked out.

But the Garand is a close second, and the Carbine is an even closer 3rd place.

I voted for the M1A scout, as long as its in a black fiberglass stock. With that stock and a 20 round mag, its looks very EBRish, and I'm drawn to EBRs. In a walnut stock, it has a slight edge over the the Garand do to the evil magazine. In whatever camo pattern they use on the other (mossy oak?), it gets bumped to the bottom. I just dont like it.

I've thought about purchasing an M1A Scout. Never really considered an M1 Garand or a M1 Carbine.

If you said M-14 instead of M1A I would go with that one, but of those choices, Garand.

A couple years ago when the M1A was on my wish list, I would have voted that the coolest. Now that I have one, I guess I'm suffering from "greener pastures" syndrome. I have the M1A and I'm think that Garand has risen in coolness factor :scrutiny: So, I voted Garand

M1 Carbine

An M1 carbine with the original paratrooper stock and the adjustable rear sights... preferably an I.B.M. manufacture.

Yeah, that'd do.

I always had a thing for the carbine. I don't know why, totally useless caliber for a sportsman like me. I think it is because the Lieutenant on "Combat" carried one. (TV show in the 60s) When I was a kid, I swooned over those things.

Never did buy one, too practical thinking I guess.

the Garand because....

of all the collectable mil-surps the Garand is one with the most deviations and difficulty collecting. And one of the more expensive.

There were different manufactures that made it,different parts depending on year and maker.Different cartouches depending on the year.So many alternatives to collecting it that its just one of "coolest".

Shooting it,the history. While the carbine has some of those traits also, the Garand is supreme.

That said the M14 is the "funk".

Garand is an amusing old beast. Handicapped by a mediocre loading system. Desirable as a long arm in Canada due to legal restrictions on other rifles. Obviously has tremendous historical appeal.

M1A is a damned heavy rifle. Great, otherwise. My choice, if it's my money.:)

M1 Carbine is a weak pistol caliber, but a fun plinker. I'm not sure what I'd do with it that I can't do for a fraction of the cost with a 10/22.

Yep, but for me it was Kirby's BAR, with Saunders' Thompson a hair behind.
I've love to get a carbine, just cause, but the price is ridiculous.

M1 Carbine: causes girls to exclaim "it's soooo cute, I want to shoot it!"

Plus looks extra-cool with a reproduction paratrooper stock.

I'll take a M1 Grand, expecially if it's set up as a National Match Rifle

Actually I want 2 of them, one in 30-06 and one in .308

Yeah, much as I've always like the looks of the thing, I've often thought the same thing. I have a couple of butt ugly SKSs, but they were cheaper and I've actually killed a deer with one of 'em.

I'd rank the .30 carbine more up with my .22 mag than my 10-22, though. Still pretty worthless. LOL! Ain't like I'm goin' squirrel huntin' with a .30 carbine.

I'd like to buy a 'ping', Pat!

I would've voted for the M14/M1A, but not the scout, it's somewhat neutered in ballistics and muzzle velocity compared to a full-length M14/M1A. So my vote went for John C. Garand's enduring achievement in wood and metal. ;)

I am entitled to vote for any I wish, since I own at least one of each gun in the list. My M14NM, however, remains the proper barrel length.
