Looking to buy one of these....not these exactly here...may go to another scource. But....which would you perfer.
Which of these two would you buy?

Am I right is thinking they are 4 1/4" and 4" barreled lightweight (Aluminum frame) guns?
I love my old Colt LW Commander, and I am sure the Sig is a fine gun as well.
Tough choice. Pricing would be big for me here, unless I just had to have the Colt.

Always been a big fan of the Colt Commander and Combat Commander models. I would go w ith the Colt over the SIG.

All things being equal in that I didn't have a "need" for the features of one firearm over the other and cost was not an issue - I'd be goin' Colt for sure.
Colt is actually making fine 1911's right now, and their customer service is much better if anything goes wrong. I like the Colt lightweight Commander XSE for carry. A buddy has one, and its a great shooter.

Colt !! I think Sig as a whole is vastly over rated and overpriced.

I have fired both and prefer the Sig. The way a Sig fits my hand I have often felt as though they were made just for me. Have you noticed with guns there is almost never a right or wrong, it's all personal preference for the most part. GOOD LUCK ON YOUR SELECTION. I'm sure you'll be happy either way.

I think Sig makes a 4 1/4 barrels also.
Sig has a different slide profile, so you may have more trouble finding a holster for it, but they have been around a while, so they may be more available.
The Colt is not current production, or has been modified. The current, blue Colt Commander comes with a long trigger and flat mainspring housing. Those are also small GI sights. I would prefer the Colt.

As nice as Colt is, I would take c3. I handled one and regret not buying it.

Colt would be my top choice
I would get the Sig C3 or even the Sig RCS (pretty much the same gun, except the slide has a melt job and the grip safety, thumb safety, mag release and slide stop are black instead of silver). That C3 on Gunbroker you posted must be used. I have never seen one come with laser grips and a magwell (unless Sig is trying something new).
I just checked Sig's website and see that model (the 1911 C3 Crimson Trace) is under the new products section. Looks good.

I picked the C3 because I have one and am very happy with it. I have never owned a Colt so I have no actual experience with one.
My older brother carried a Colt Commander as an Air Force Policeman during the Korean war. He paid $35.00 for it when he got to Korea, and sold it to another soldier for $35.00 when he left Korea. He speaks very highly of that gun, and told me many times that he wishes he still had it.

While I am a Colt fan, a series 70 nut case, my SIG RCS1911, a CCO sized pistol shoots way better than any of my Colts. I can shoot steel plates way faster, shoot one hole groups out to 20-25 yards, and it has Novak night sight too. Love my Colts, trust my life to my SIG. +1 for the SIG

But am biased. My Colt LW Commander is at Colt getting fixed. From my small sample the Sig feeds better and is more accurate in my hands.
The difference may go away when the Colt comes back. That is why it is back at the factory.
I like the fit of the slide stop and the safety on the Colt. Triggers felt about the same.
Low round count on both, returned the Colt after 300 rounds and have less on the RCS. But both are a good pick. They were within 10.00 of each other in price.
My next purchase may be a Commander Nightmare. Or a PT1911 in 9mm. I wish Sig made 1911's in 9mm. A C3 in 9 would be a sweet shooter.

If it's a 1911 it's gotta have a Horse on it.........Colt.
Judging from the Colt box with the styrofoam insert I would think that pistol is a few years old, maybe NIB. I'm not sure if that makes any difference to you, but you might try dating it to find out for sure. If up to me I would take the Colt.
