I know, that comment was aimed at this comment "Norinco, it’s the same price as a RRA"
Theirs more than a few dollars difference between the RIA and the RRA

If I wanted a full sized M1911, I would buy the cheapest Springfield I could find. SA has a good reputation for their baseline guns. I'd then have a local guy do whatever else needed doing.

If I wanted a smaller gun, I'd go with the cheapest MicroCompact. A friend has one and it's a great little gun. I was surprised at how controllable it was both with 230gr. ball and 117gr. Aguila IQ.

no love for Kimbers??? I did lots of research before buying my first 1911 and looked at Colts, SA, Para's and most of the cheaper 1911 brands but always came back to the Kimber. The local gun shop guy whose very well known on knowing his stuff told me he recommended the Kimbers over all the above named and I ended up with Stainless TLE II and haven't regretted it...

I only have a couple of 1911s, but the only one I own out of the categories listed is a Springfield. Springfield makes good guns, with a lifetime warranty, so any problems you may have will be easily remedied.

Colt! I've owned 1 other brand of 1911, and it was a mistake. You really can't go wrong with a good Colt.

They do have more hand-assembly/fitting than most, and as such there are some with niggles out there. 5 or so years ago, it seemed hard to find a really good one in the shops. It's better now, and most that I have seen lately are very good. I just grabbed the S70 Repro below (shown with my WW1 Repro which is a HONEY of a gun):
