Which one for a pickup truck handgun?

Mine changes often. I shoot my 1911's the best but I usually have my Taurus 66, 7shot 357. No fumbling around - always ready to go.

And I carry a Taurus M85UL in 38spcl.

Semiautomatic or full automatic are no god. Because hot cases is flying around. It must to be also strong enough. Use .454 Casull or .500 S&W Magnum.

Here's a safe for truck consoles:

I like them since you can still bolt them to the truck body and they're out of sight. Plus, and let's be honest here, how many of our truck consoles are really just filled with a bunch of junk?:D

FYI: My truck gun is a Beretta 92 Elite w/ 2 spare mags. I figure if I go through my CCW AND the Beretta it's probably time for me to be leaving.

my truck gun is a smith 642 loaded with federal hydrashocks. It's not a big gun but its only there as my last resort contingency plan. Beats a branch in a stick fight.

I'm gonna go a different direction on this. Not trying to be a smarty-pants but since you already have a makarov readily accessible, it's back up that takes 5-10 seconds to get to should be a howitzer of some sort. For me, it's an AK with a folding stock.

You can pick up a decent use .45 ACP or 9mm Ruger at most gun/pawn shops. Great guns are will definately be a show stopper!

In the last truck I owned, I had a S&W 5904 9mm in the console and a Marlin 9mm camp rifle in the passenger side area. The same mags fit both guns, so with 5 extra hi caps plus the ones in the guns, I was good to go. NEVER felt outgunned.

I wouldn't dream of shooting any auto inside a vehicle if I had the option of using a 10mm revolver. Anyone's that has ever had an empty case hit them in the face around the eyes will agree. Don't forget: you don't necessarily have eye/ear protection in this scenario.

Honestly, you must be deeply conficted and/or REALLY HATE revolvers. A S&W 610 may be the ultimate handgun for this situation.

(Personally, I believe a 4" 610 really is the ultimate combat handgun, as in "the last, the most, and the all in between.")

wrangler

OK. Here is a question for ya all. I have a jeep wrangler with a soft top. I have a ccw license and as you know not all places of business allow a firearm in their establishment. If I have to leave my pistol [Springfield 9mm s.c.] in my jeep where would be the best way to secure it? The glove box is cheap plastic and easy to break into even when locked. There is a center console between the seats that can be locked but that also can be broken into pretty easy. Of course I do lock the doors when I have to leave my pistol in my jeep and I park under lighted areas at night. Any ideas?

Harbor Freight. #93575 Usually on sale for around $30. Has a # keypad and a backup key lock. Fairly quick access (although it does beep, not real stealthy) would hold 2 handguns if a shelf were added, with room for a lil ammo or extra mags. Bolt it down in back...

@ultradoc

What year jeep is yours? In our 2005 and 2006 wranglers, you could take the center console top insert out, and then bolt your safe to the floorboard. On our 2003 wrangler, there was no top insert, the console went straight to the floor.

My wrangler is a 2003. I will look into maybe taking out the center console. It looks like the top part might unscrew. Thanks for all of the ideas. They help.
