I'll let you know ;)
Almost without fail this happens every time I am discussing or viewing some of my collection. My 10/22 draws a blank expression and a 'anything else in there?'

Doesn't bother me but what is it that bores people about this rifle. My boys and I have a BLAST plinking on the cheap and I can put a price tag on that.

So.... What do you have that either is constantly overlooked by others acting as if it were the most boring thing they had ever heard of or seen, or is constantly hogging the attention from the rest of your collection and is all other people want to see/talk about/touch.

A better question (or at least a different take on yours) what do WE (as in each of us gun nuts) overlook in our collection. In fairness, no surprise, it's my good old (26 years old in fact) 10/22. It doesn't get cleaned, it's leaning against a door jam, and I'll feed it crappy .22 ammo. Yet, when it's 'shooting time' and I don't want to fuss with other weapons or blow through expensive ammo----the 10/22 gets grabbed and doesn't fuss. My kids love it, having 'graduated' from their Crickets to the oh-so-fun-smack-a-25 rounder in-10/22. Well, I guess I put fresh spings in a few years back. You always hurt the one you love... Not to stray from your subject.

i have an old .22 single shot, bolt action that my grandfather gave to my dad and then came to me. i,we used to go down to the dump(yes, i know that was a very long time ago) an shoot rats. not anything i ever told my mom about. but it was and still is very accurate and cheap to shoot. i later got a remington nylon 66 and i dearly loved it as well.

Ah! Tuesday night rat hunts! Remeber Lowell from the TV show Wings?
Ya gave me a chuckle, thanks!

The blond 870 is gone, was hard to find a buyer.

The 1956 birth year Model 37 is the show stopper.
Perfect combination of functionality, good looks, classic lineage and customized to my satisfaction.

The 10/22 is a utility gun unless you trick it out or get an oddball to start with - of the 4 I have, three are interesting (fake M1 carbine, mannlicher-stock "international", and the takedown) and one is a stock carbine. All have Tech-Sights, and all shoot the same ... but that plain carbine mostly sits and gets ignored, it has actually been migrating to the rear of the gun cabinet due to shuffling and overcrowding in there, while the fake M1carbine and takedown get taken to the range.

If you need to put 0.22" holes in something within 100 yards, and don't want to carry bulky shooting grar around, the 10/22 is about perfect - lightweight, reliable, and reasonably accurate ... and 10x factory magazines are compact and can be dropped in a pocket. You don't really need anything beyond the rifle, a sling, some mags, and ear/eye-protection to get a range trip with a 10/22.

There are surely more exotic and interesting guns in the cabinet, but a 10/22 almost always goes to the range, and it is the first rifle I stick in a new shooter's hands

One of my favorites is my M1a. But whenever I take my guns out for people to shoot, everyone goes for the Ar's, Ar's and even the mil-surps get more play than the ole m-14.
