forgive me if there is already a thread, please post it if so, im new here. im in the market for a true pocket pistol. front pocket mainly. i dont wear baggy jeans at all. our local shops that carry everything i want to try wont even let me try it in my pocket! im fairly new to handguns anyway, VERY much new to pocket pistols. the first i buy (2nd, i do own a bobcat) i will carry for a while. until my wife gets comfortable enough to carry, then its hers and i get a new one. that could be a month, could be a year. i thought i wanted the seecamp 380, but ive seen some bothersome parts and workmanship on those in my research. most research keeps leading me back to the Kel Tec 3AT and the new Ruger LCP. then i find out about the ammo shortage. now im thinking about a S&W J frame revolver in maybe a 38.or maybe the Ruger LCR. my only concern is will my wife enjoy shooting the snubby. obviously not as much as the Colt 22 she somewhat enjoys shooting now, but will she get used to it or is it too much for someone who not long ago was nearly scared to death of any firearm? any other suggestions are welcomed as well! sorry if i rambled, any input is appreciated. My favorite go anywhere anytime pocket gun is a S&W 638 j-frame. Perfect size and weight . Also love the Bobcat but 22lr not as good as the .38.

Looks like you've left just enough of the spur to be able to thumb-cock that S&W. How hard is it to cock?

I had a 642 Airweight that was a great little gun. Very acurate, very smooth, all good. Never had a problem getting pinched. Made a dumb move by trading it for something I later got rid of. Wish I had it back.

LCP if you want the easiest to conceal out of your choices. In my area there is enough ammo to practice with and plenty of SD rounds.

Smith J-frame or Ruger LCR are both good in my experience as well but a little harder to pocket. There is actually not an overabundance of new 38 in my area but there are a lot of reloads. Plenty of SD rounds too. I like the trigger better on the LCR but the J-frame has many more years of service in it's favor.

Sorry for the non-answer but either of the three will do you well. If you have a range the rents, put your paws on one and decide.

no range within 1.5 hrs. from me. ive built my own little place to shoot on my property. my issue of choosing is that theres nowhere to rent them around here. guess maybe ill make the drive next weekend b4 i spend the cash. there are very few if any .380 ammo around here, ive checked no one even has any on their shelves at this time, nor do they think theyll get any any time soon. so the LCP and my original 1st choice, the Kel Tec 3AT were ruled out. thanks for the help!
