Hi, its me again and I am intersting in buying a new handgun. This time I want an 357 sig pistol. I will use the gun only for fun shooting, for defence I would use my g20. in an case of emergency an 10 mm slug would be more effectiv than an 357. bullet. But the whole sd thing is more theortical because here in my country the crime rate is not so high.

But which 357 sig pistol would you recommend and what do you think about the 357 sig catridge in generall?

I would be pleased hearing some tipps.

thanks, greetings from austria.

I chose the HK USPC .357 Sig. Great pistol and very effective caliber.

SIG 229 (with both the .40 cal and the .357 SIG barrels)-easy swap and you have either caliber. Great gun too!

Sig Sauer P229, one of the most solid autos ever built. Can handle my monster loads with the 19 lb spring. ( Die beste 0,357 Sig Pistole kann Geld kaufen! )

Correct me if I'm wrong, but can't you just swap the barrel out on your Glock 20 and make it a .357sig. I dunno know if this is a wisetale ore not, but have read about people doing that, unsure about mags....????

Schwebel- Mag dimensions are the same for the .40 S&W and the .357 Sig.

I just don't like Glock barrels and chambers for my custom ammo. The Sig uses a tighter chamber with the same reliability, plus the land and grove style rifling is more conducive to kaboom free hardcast shooting.

Thx for your answers. And even if ist possible to swap just the barrel of my g20, I want to have an second pistol in 357 sig. I will check the prices of guns you have mentioned.

concering ammo: Which load in 357 sig would yo recomend for target/fun shooting and which for sd?

Even a Glock shoots .357 Sig well. :neener:

Seriously, you can't go wrong with an HK USP Compact chambered in that caliber (although I hear they're no longer being imported in .357 Sig).

I have a Kimber Custom 1911 "meltdown" model with interchangeable .357 Sig and .38 Super bbls. One of my favorite handguns (tack driver!).

229 Sport is a great 357 Sig gun, and its big brother in 44 Automag is not bad either!

HK P2000.

Someone had mentioned a USPc in 357Sig, I didn't realize they had that offering.
It's not listed on the HK website.

Thx again for your answers. I will check if double tap ammo ist available here in Austria. If it isn't available with other company sells good 357 sig loads?

I have owned three G31, G32, and G33. Out of those three, I only kinda miss the Glock 32. It was the perfect size. If the .357SIG bug ever bites again, then I am surely going with the Sig 229. Ever since I first held my new Walther P99 the other day, I finally realized that there are guns out there that are better quality than GLOCKs. A lot of the State Troopers here in Louisiana that I know are big Sig Sauer fans.

Trueblue,

Yes I picked the mags up from CDNN a few years back. They were having a sale on them so I picked up 6 or 8 of them. That picture is old so I really should reshoot the 229 sport in its current fashion.

Peter always comes along with his nice toys to brighten up posts.

I've carried a P229 in 357sig every day for about 7 years now. Sometimes the original is the best; everyone else is compelled to try to catch the leader.

Regards,
Rabbit.
