@Glockensig Yes, please post the long list. And thx again for your answers, I will visit my local gun store on monday and will take a look at the sigs you mentioned.:)

Glock. Especially since you already have a G-20. The 357sig is a great round and easily converts to .40

agent00,

Here's a partial list of what's out there:
Buffalo Bore started making two loadings
Winchester Ranger has a load with a bonded JHP
Georgia Arms has a load ( which used to be called Sheer power plus ) which is new manufactued gold dot load.
Then there are Glaser loads, and I think

@Glockensig Ok thx for the long list.

What do you think about the Hs2000 handgun? This gun is known in the states as Springfield Xd. A buddy has an 9 mm pistol and he likes it very much.

The XD/HS2000 is kinda hard to find in .357sig. Not bad though, as I'd stick with a polymer framed model to absorb as much recoil as possible. I'm not sure you're leaning toward the Glock but my recommendation is to go with HK, Glock, or even the XD. The Sigs ARE very nice built guns but feel to me like the extra weight doesn't help recoil at all. Ammo recommendation would be something light like a 115gr. from Cor-Bon @1500 fps, 575 ft/lbs. energy.

I still say it would be nice to buy a .40 caliber GLOCK to go with your 20 and buy a .357SIG barrel for that.

Ethereal Yes you are right, the Hs 2000 ist not very comon here in austria. I can easy get glocks, sigs and hks. I will visit my local gunstore on monday and check what#s available.

@Crunker1337 Yes, that's no bad idea, which 40 cal glock would yo recomend? An G22?

HK really has something going with their recoil reduction system, which is just a different recoil spring design. If you had asked about 9mm I would have said go with whichever you like better because Sig is an excellent company. But when you start getting in the higher recoil rounds, and especially if you are sensitive to recoil, HK really is amazing.

I use the G32 with Winchester Ranger Ammo. But I like the feel better than the 229 Sig. Handle both pick what feels better.

Having owned and carried 3 different handguns chambered for .357sig, I can give you my take on them:

Sig SP2340: Phenominal accuracy and quality, good ergos and reasonable size. It is a pain to disassemble and reassemble (compared to other Sigs), and the high bore-axis produces significant muzzle-flip when shooting, though quite controllable with practice.

Sig P239: I carried this gun for 2 years. With Hogue fingergroove grips, it was the most comfortable in my hand, by far. Again, great quality and accuracy, easier to carry than the SigPro, and easier to disassemble. Drawbacks are low capacity (7+1), and again, high bore-axis induced muzzle-flip.

Both were 100% reliable. I put in excess of 1,500rd through the SP2340, and 6K through the P239

The last (and my current primary carry weapon), is the Springfield XD-357 Service. I have owned and carried this gun for about a year now, and am very satisfied with it. It has excellent ergonomics, accuracy, and ease of take-down. It also has a lower bore-axis, which helps tame the recoil. Comparing the SP2340 and XD-357 is very even, the nod going to the XD because of its consistent trigger-pull and slightly superior handling... it has likewise been 100% reliable, in over 2,000rd.

I sold the SP2340, replaced it with the P239, and owned it concurrently with my XD... I'm now selling my P239 in favor of an H&K P2000 LEM in .357sig, which, if it proves to be the best of the 4 will replace the XD as well... though I will not be selling it.

Hello, I have done some investigations. Unfortunately the HK P2000 is not available in 357 sig here in Austria, but I can the sigs you have mentioned, I like the 229 best, I think I will buy one tomorow. Another option would be an used usp in 357 sig... I will report when I have got my new pistol.

Thanks for your help.

I have two guns in .357 Sig and can recommend both, a Sig Pro 2340 Blueline in .40/.357 and a Glock 33. The Sig was acquired chambered for .40 S&W but I added a factory barrel for .357 Sig. The magazines for both calibers are the same and are marked as such.

The Glock 33, great for carry, is a fine shooter. I have also added a .40 S&W barrel and a 9mm conversion barrel. Either the 33 0r 27 gives you that option. With a 26 you are going to be limited to 9mm.

Another fine gun is the Steyr MA1 in .357 Sig. Again you can go back and forth from .40 to .357 with a barrel or slide change. I hope to add .357 Sig to my Steyrs with the SA1 when it becomes available.

@Storm Thx for your answers. Yes you are right, the glock 33 is a fine pistol,i have seen one at very good price, a bit cheaper, than the sig sauer p229....

Thx again for your answers. I have bought my handgun on friday, an Sig P229. I have already used it at the range and it's a great gun.

Thanks for your help.:)
