Nothing wrong with a nice 10/22 but with the H&KG36 there are several additions some folks might find useful, not just the "tacticool" looks.
Barrel floating chasis. The iron sights are an improvement and allow to choose close range vs. mid range and also allow to mount many choices/combinations of optics including red-dot + magnifier combos.
Also have 2 internal compartments to store little spare parts, tools and even a few rounds of ammo.
The folding stock can be put in a back-pack. Since it isn't wood it doesn't matter if it gets wet.

I love my CMMG dedicated 22LR upper. They basically put a 22LR barrel and bolt in a AR15 receiver so it has the same weight, feel, and controls as the M4 at work. The two uppers I got have been almost flawless in the 15,000 some rounds I've put through them so far and at that round count they've paid for themselves several times over vs a 5.56 upper.

If you just want a semi-auto 22LR then by all means get a 10/22. But if you want a AR15 'trainer' (and I definitely do since I'm paying for the ammo I shoot off-duty) then CMMG's 22LR, the M&P15-22, and others start to make a lot of sense.
