I can't decide!! Which would you pick a ruger p95 or a Glock 22 or 17 or other.
I'm sorta leaning toward the ruger because its cheaper and still built like a tank. Buuuuuttttttt I still somehow get back to glocks.
Help me!!!

Out of your 3 choices I would pick the 17. The other two would be great too, but the 17 to me is a modern-day classic.

The 17 is widely considered if not the best certainly on the very, very short list of the best 9mm pistol's available. Personally I can't think of a single pistol that trumps it in it's intended combat role. As to the Ruger, DoD bought 5,000 of them to give to the Ahfgani defense forces, so they must be fairly inexpensive and at least decently reliable......Head to head, I'd take the Glock without the whisper of a second thought......

Very different modes of operation. I personally do not care for the DA/SA transition and avoid those designs. Just sayin' I think a trigger pull should be the same on every pull. I sold my P95, P90, and Beretta 92S in my DA purging. I am left with:

HK's with LEM
HK P7M8
eight Glocks
a CZ 75B SA
a Colt 1911
a Sig P220R Carry SAO

The Ruger may look like a tank and be a tank but many G17's are running around with 50K+ round counts on them. Some in the six figures. Between the G22 and G17 it's a caliber choice. The G22 is the most common police handgun likely for good reason. The G17 is cheaper to shoot, entirely adequate, and lots of people can shoot better with the G17 than the G22 (myself included). Me? My first Glock would be the G19, but of your choices I'd take the G17. - Lee

Get whatever one you really want. They will all function reliably and are equally accurate.

Buying guns is an emotional 'thing', don't let pure practicality rule your decision making.

I've never cared for the design of the Ruger P series; just something about the feel and the balance of the guns that kept me from ever buying one. I have an early Glock 17 and it's been a great gun; accurate, reliable, and extremely durable. For a more interesting option, maybe you might want to consider the new SR9. At least it compares more directly with the Glocks than the P 95.

If you get one of these...

I'll say Ruger just because everyone will say Glock. I don't own a Glock and probably won't but I own a Ruger and it's a very solid practical pistol...

Im also for the glock. Ive held and shot a ruger p95, and although its a good gun, something about it rubs me the wrong way.

i do and always first suggest the xd series to folks. they are definetly worth a good hard look. if you want to get a glock, get the 19, theglocks best work is in 9mm, and the 19 is the perfect size for whatevre the use. i have owned a ruger p95 and i am not a fan of da/sa but it was a great gun and it didn't fit my hand and i didn't shoot it well or i would have kept it. i now have a ruger p345 ad it is a mighty accurate and fun gun to shoot.

when a friend was looking for a gun, he went cheap & bought a Ruger P95, rather than waiting and spending a little more. we found a pre-owned G19 at a gun shop for $400. he ended up buying it and luckily a friend of his was going to buy a P95, so the P95 got sold.

whatever you buy, just make sure you will be happy with it. my personal preference is GLOCK

I have the following and give every one of them an enthusiastic thumbs up!

G17
G19
G21

After thousands of rounds on each, all have proven to be wonderfully reliable!

I have a P95 and have fired several Glocks in several calibers. The P95 is not a bad gun, but I would buy a Glock in a heartbeat. The Glock 30 and Glock 19 are two of the best handguns ever made, and that is not an understatement.

If you want to know what I don't like about the P95, ask.

Glock. It will cost you more at first but look at the magazines prices on the Ruger before you decide. Also check out the mag prices on a Glock and how available they are. Look at the accessories for Glock compared to anything.
Oh and the SA XD stuff that it comes with is not worth the headache you will have after you have ahd it for awhile. The holster is horrible and not comfortable at all. It is just cheap marketing stuff.

I can tell you right now that the P95 usually goes in the range of $300-350. I bought mine at Gander Mountain (aka Ripoff Mountain) for $350 which included the gun, a case, a gun lock and two 15 round magazines.

For a Glock 17, expect any gun store to charge you at least $500. I think Ripoff Mountain already has them at $550 and up. You might do better on the internet.
