Who actually utilizes a neck knife?

Not that I need a knife hidden by my tie, but that's kind of clever!

Back before the implementation of metal detectors at my local county courthouse, there was a lawyer who strapped a boot knife to his calf. Seriously. It was in a sheath like the older straps used to hold up dress socks.

It made for a conversation starter when he crossed his legs and propped his foot up on his opposite knee. He also kept a j frame in his brief case.
When asked, he replied,” you see an armed deputy in this courthouse?” He had a point. Of course now we have metal detectors and deputies assigned as courthouse security. That lawyer is long since dead.

How times have changed.

I never used neck knives, for whatever reason. I've clipped folders to my body armor just below the neck line, but never hung one around my neck.
This is the extent of my neck knives, I've used it, but it rides in a pocket.

I carry on of these often. It is handy to reach when you are trying to hold onto something you needed to cut.
I don't consider it a defensive knife
1095 ? Clean and lube once a week
Paracord around your neck? 100 pieces Paracord break aways @$6.99 on Amazon
It's a tool that is handy. That said I have tried several and the mini ulu is the only one that has the balance of size/weight vs utility

I have two Breeds, This one was my first and is the one I throw on when I am hiking or seriously packing heat . I also have the THR commemorative Breed necker , that a little thicker handled version . Also have a couple larger fancier neckers I don't wear .

I recently (within the past few months) acquired a similar setup... In my case, a GiantMouse GMF1-FS skeletonized knife. It ships with a very nice leather sheath, but I wanted GiantMouse's add-on Kydex sheath for neck carry. My renewed interest in fixed-blade knives seemed to coincide with my interest in neck knives... :)

Tried to several times with different ones. Never liked it. Small fixed bladed go horizontal carry on the belt. Hell, so do med size ones like my ZT0100.

A few years back I had some money left on an old gift card that I wanted to use up. Got a couple of other less expensive knives from Moraknivs and Puma SGB. Found the S&W neck knife and thought I would like to give one a try. It felt okay at first but like others have already attested to, it can be a bit annoying when your neck hairs get caught in the ball chain!

Haven't had it out since then but may give it another try soon!
