S&W 1066 & .....

.... a spare mag. Carry ammo is 175gr Win SilverTips at this time. Though the future WILL see the use of DoubleTap 135gr or 165gr round for CCW.

OOooo, I do hope that S&W brings back the 10xx line in some type....

theres alot more on here that carry smiths than i thaught i love mine and would like to get some of the older type 59's,659,459 etc...

I recently picked up a 469 that's been treated to Cylinder and Slide polishing and trigger jobs and Pachmayr grips . It's a great little gun that has lots of 80's cool to it - makes me want to wear it in a shoulder rig over a tshirt and under a sportcoat , not shave regularly and listen to Flock of Seagulls . I'd like to get it hard chromed and have some Novak sights installed to make it even cooler . I know , I know , there are lots of *better* , more recent things out there but the little Smith is just neat:D

BTW : first post here , seems like a great place !

I've been known to carry...

A S&W Model 52. With 2 spare mags of .38 Special. Great sight acquisition, easy recovery from recoil. Deadly accurate, but ya gotta aim for the eyebulbs. ;)

I carry my 6906 IWB at 1:00 loaded with Gold Dots. I swapped out the finger extension on my carry mag to a flat baseplate to print a little less. Still shoots great even with pinky under the mag.

5906 on duty in Safariland #2 holster, 3913 off duty in Bianchi 3S IWB holster. 115 gr Gold dots.

Hogue Grips

twbredw,

I have no personal experience using the Pachmyer grips, so I can't compare them to the Hogue's in use on my 1066.

The Hogue rubber grips as used on my 1066, IMO, are a definite improvement over both the straight or curved S&W stock grips. The Hogues offer better comfort for me, being slightly wider as well as offering a less slippery surface, as compared to the S&W factory hard synthetic grips. Too bad the Hogues are not available for the S&W 10xx decocker models
:(

I can't compare them to the Hogues but have to say they're several dozen times better than the slim , hard plastic grips they came with from the factory . I don't know how true it is , but I've been told that it was S&W's attempt at making an in house ASP and that part of the slimming program were the less than wonderful grips .

A 4506 with 230 grain Rangers, the SW99 with 180 grain Rangers. In the past, a 4566 with 185 grain Gold Dots and a 457 with 185 grain Hi Shok.

In the woods the 1076 with either 200 grain Blazers or 175 grain Silvertips.
