Who Carries at home?

I always carry in or out of the house. Find a gun and holster you are comfortable carrying.

If your kids are of age you ought to take them shooting. Satisfy their curiousity and gain a shooting partner.

I used to work with a friend of a couple of the Carr Brothers' victims. He had went to Wichita State and knew these folks(the victims) they were good people and this was a horrible thing.

I caution anyone before reading the linke ebd10 posted--these individuals (the perps) were sick and their actions were horrible and grisly.

I carry at all times that I legally can. Find yourself a rig that you are comfortable with and it becomes just part of the daily routine like a watch or a cellphone except it might save your or a friends life.

If you see me with pants on, you see me while I'm carrying a gun.

Yep. Me too. My wife and kids know it. Nobody else does.

Except for you now...

Heh, while I read my German Shepard and my 870 are by my side. I almost feel sorry for the sad SOB who comes through my front door.

Family carries

All adults carry in our household....ALL THE TIME. We live in rual Vermont and you never know what or who you will find on these dirt roads. Also we have some of the best pro-gun laws in America and we exercise those rights!!!...

Guns - out

I do. My house is difficult to maneuver about in, especially from one end to the other, in a quick manner. For now, there are several handguns stashed in it, but that will change when my infant daughter starts becoming mobile. Then, those will be made secure, and the one on me will basically become the only "hot" one..

After a 6'2" big guy knocked on the door trying to sell my wife dishwashing liquid, "she carries at home". It was legit but it really freaked her out.

I carry at home because I carry everywhere I legally can. Why would I remove the gun when I get home? In the unlikely event of a home invasion where we live, I would like my gun in a familiar place, on my hip, leaving one more variable out of a volatile situation.

I have nine grandchildren under 9 years of age. None of them has ever mentioned it, even though I'll sometimes OC around the house. I guess its just a fact of life they grew up with; "grandpa carries a gun, so what?".

As for my wife, she has her CCW as well. She is glad I always carry, so she doesn't always have to. (Women have to 'dress around' the gun it seems, takes a lot more planning.)

BRAVO LARRY! That's the way it should be. Better yet "Mom & Dad & Grandma & Grandpa carry guns, so what?"

Re: the Wichita murders... Yikes. Hadn't come across that before.

A good example of how a person saved himself and his young son from some real psychopaths. They had dug graves for the intended victims prior to their failed attempt.

I do not think these situations are common in most parts of the US, and don't mean to imply that this is a statistically-compelling reason to always carry. But most fears are not rational.

Leave the door and windows locked, and have more than one gun located around the house. As long as nobody can just walk right in, you'll be able to get to your gun in time.

If it's unsafe enough where you live that you feel the need to carry a gun around the house though, you might consider moving to a safer area, for the sake of you and your family's safety. Better they be unhappy about moving to a new place than living in a high-crime area

Always carry around the farm and in the house. You never know when you are going to need it.Home invasions are on the rise.If my 2 dobermans don't get you I will!

Got plenty in easy reach, but I'm not paranoid enough to carry in my house.

Of course, my 'paranoia' is based on the knowledge of my surroundings, my neighbors, crime rates, and the layout of my house.

That's me, though. If YOU feel the need to carry around your house, you should, and to hell what anyone else thinks.

I don't carry around the house. I have guns in various locations around the house though. All the kids 12 and up are pretty good shots. I have mixed feelings about the childproofing. Our neighborhood isn't that good and I think the older kids should be able to grab a gun if need be. The younger ones know not to touch the guns.

My hometown went three years--1997-1999--no homicides, then in the three years 2004-2006 there were eight: at least five of the eight were home invasions for drugs or money to buy drugs.

A friend was killed in his garden just 75 feet from his back door-a girl headed to the grocery store was found dead just two miles from my door-there have been several home invasions/burglaries around here especially lately. Yes I carry constantly and have guns staged in nearly every room-bathroom included. My truck is a rolling "arsenal" with adequate extra rounds/mags. I travel some and intend on being able to return home no matter what may come "down the road". Am carrying now, have a 1911 staged adjacent to the pooter, and a tactical shotgun two steps away. There are loaded "deer rifles" in two locations-hey, the deer around here use vests so black tips are necessary-lol. Some will say that I am paranoid and yep-I am--what was that noise. Seriously, crack heads have absolutely no care or concept of the quality of life we pursue. They care nothing for themselves and certainly nothing for you and I. Mr. Parker was gardening-harming no one-not a threat to the perps, and yet they killed him in his garden for what he had in his billfold. Like several have said above-if you see me with my pants on then I am carrying--w/o them there is one very close by-and loaded. wc

I carry at home because it means my weapon is ready and secure because it's on my person. Guns "staged" around a domicile, even if "hidden" sounds like a bad idea to me. I'd recommend locking-up weapons that you're not in immediate control of.
