I just love hearing the thunk of a crimped freshly loaded round being ejected out of my Redding Big Boss with Inline Fabrication case ejector and landing in the bin! Also, CFE Pistol is secret sauce for my Springfield mil-spec with the factory barrel and my new threaded barrel from Nighthawk! I use 6.9gr and 230gr copper jacketed bullets from Remington, Hornady, and Winchester with great results! They do about 850-860 fps out of the 5in barrel. Basically duplicates Winchester 45 Auto ball for what that's worth. Anyone else having good luck with CFE Pistol in their 1911? Cause I think I need an 8lb jug at this rate. And more Large pistol magnum primers...
I am finishing up loading ~150 230gr XTPs to shoot them up as I got a decent amount of Winchester 230gr JHP bullets a while back for CHEAP...

I couldn't get the SW to feed in my Witness or the wife's XD but these round nose flatpoint feed just fine. Load these up with AA#2 or Ramshot Silhouette. Yes I cast these myself.
I use CFE Pistol for my current loads, I would like to try it with lead bullets. I'm pretty sure I've seen data for it with lead... I found some Data for 230gr lead and it's slightly less than my current load. However, with a new 45cal and below (SiCo Hybrid 46M) suppressor soon to be in our possession, lead bullets will mess it up in a hurry so I'll have to pass unfortunately...

I work PT at an outdoor range and as a benefit I get to mine the 25yd pistol berm for lead. Last time out I pulled about 170# of lead in about 40min... So right now I cast for 380, 38 and 45acp... Before the price of primers skyrocketed I was loading 45acp for about $.07 which includes the cost of processing the lead.

Nice! Wish I could load that cheap... Do you use a 45 Colt (.452) mold for the flat nose bullets? It would be nice to use the same mould for both cartridges.

I’m a 1911 junkie. More 45 ACP versions but a bunch of 1911s in other chamberings.

230 RN over 5.0 700-X is my favorite load but I use AA#5 and Unique at times. I’ve never tried CFE Pistol mostly because I have not felt the need to try a new powder—yet.

My Government Model 1911s do not feed semi-wadcutters well but I recently got a current production Colt Gold Cup National Match. It feeds semi-wadcutters fine. The feed ramp on the Gold Cup is different than the Gov’t models.

Ahh, mine is Gov style so yeah I guess FMJs and JHPs are my life lol. You have to try CFE Pistol, I love it and I've loaded a fair bit with it so far.

The 45 Auto is one of my favorites to load, along with 357 Mag. Currently using W231, W244, Sport Pistol, and American Select under a variety of cast, plated, and jacketed bullets in the 45 Auto.

Hmmm who makes American Select powder?

I enjoy the 45. I also enjoy 357 mag and 9mm. The stable will soon grow to 10mm and 44mag. I’ve had good luck with Longshot. Also cfe pistol. Mainly have run berrys 230 gr fmj. Mostly all for my dads 1911. The 45 auto, and 45 colt for that matter, have gotta be some of the most iconic and historic pistol cartridges still in prevalent use. Definitely one of my favorites.

Yes that is a .452" mold and I believe this bullet is actually designed to be used with a revolver as there is I crimp groove and I load them for the ACP to where the grove is just below the case mouth with very little crimp.

.45ACP was the first cartridge I ever loaded for, way back in Nineteen hundred and eighty-six. Still love loading it.

My standard load is 6.5grn Unique under any 230grn bullet, but lately I've been fooling with 200grn bullets, and a little less velocity for my alloy-framed Kimber; those full-house 230's really crack your hand in the light pistol, and I don't want to beat it to death. Probably my favorite powder for the 200's is WST... it burns very clean, produces very good accuracy, and seems to meter well.

American Select is my 45 Auto powder. I started using it years ago before anyone published any load data for 45 Auto. I couldn't source any Bullseye when I ran out and I'm setting there looking at 5 lbs of American Select. Then I read that Jerry Mikulek used it so I worked up a load very carefully. Alliant finally tested it for 45 ACP because so many people were using it to load that cartridge. It doesn't meter all that well because it's a flake powder but it works and it's clean. I used up the 5 lbs I had and bought 8 more. I said goodbye to Bullseye.

I wish Alliant powder wasn't just stupidly priced right now or I'd try some BE-86... Is American Select the only one you're used from them? As in you found a load you liked and just only buy that powder? I'm kinda leaning towards CFE Pistol being that option for me but I'm open to trying new stuff.

It's one of Alliant's bulky flake shotshell powders that's also suitable for some handgun applications. Sorta between Red Dot and Green Dot in burn rate with smoother metering.
Interesting... Should be good for filling the case properly with a relatively low charge weight. Like I said earlier, I wish Alliant wasn't dumb price wise right now...

Seems like quite a few of us share my love of 45 Auto! And I see even @1976B.L.Johns. has had good results with CFE Pistol as well! I also see a couple of y'all have used American select from Alliant. Good info for future consideration... I'll try not to make this to long winded, haha.
I do appreciate some of y'all sharing pics of different bullets and stuff you've loaded over the years.
