Just wondering what a poll would come up with as this board has so many different types of shooters from different backgrounds and states.

I myself carry occasionally, but many places I work in will not allow it. I almost always have one in my vehicle when driving anywhere as I live in a very rural area. I know I really should carry all the time that I can, but... it just don't happen that way. :(

What's your thoughts?

I CC when I travel, when I go to the woods, when I'm going to be running around outside at night, and when I go to the next town at night and am planning on being out of my car for any period of time... and sometimes just 'cause I want to. I'd CC every day if I didn't work in a VDZ. ;)

I voted option 1 .
There are some "circumstances".

Bascially I have a firearm on my person , or close at hand "almost always". I take a shower , there is one handy, Asleep - well sometimes I really don't get to go to bed - so I sleep with one on person, If going to bed - one is handy.

Naturally I cannot have one on College Campus...don't park on Campus. Some places I frequent - No CCW...but I know where one is. Been known to hand mine to someone that is allowed to carry in "that bldg" and we enter ,conduct business, and leave together, where I get mine back.

I have always done this ( have one handy) - even as a kid, and before "permission slips" were available. Just the way raised. :)

A long time ago, Armed Forces Radio Vietnam had some clever commercials about the In-country R&R Center at Vung Tau. These were really cute spots, telling soldiers about what was available, how to apply, how to get there, and so on.

Every spot ended with the same three words, "Bring your weapon."

Good advice. I've followed it ever since.

I'm in the 'occasionally' category. I live in a rural/small town environment with very little violent crime. I carry when I'm out of town, or in the woods/wilderness/mountains, etc.

If I thought I could predict the future, I'd only carry when I knew I would need a gun. I'd only fasten my seat belt when I knew I was going to have an accident, and carry a spare only when I knew I was going to have a flat. And I'd take out homeowner's insurance the year before I knew my house was going to burn.

I'm not that good at prognostication, though.

When the clothes go on, so does the gun.
And when the clothes come off, well...let's just say I'm a fun guy at the range

Whenever I leave the house, except at work for 48 hours a week. Luckily, my car's parked right less than twelve steps away, and visible at all times. Soon as I clock in, it's off, soon as I clock out, it's back on.

I live in Illinois so only when I am out of state, but pretty much anytime I am in Indiana. I have a nonresident Florida CCW so it is good whenever I am out of this backward state. I do carry unloaded in a fanny pack while in Illinois, which is the best I can do at home. Jim.

Every time I leave the house. Period.

While in the house, only when breaking in a new holster. (because I got a new gun. :D ). I have a loaded gun in every room in the house. I carry a NAA .380 with me throughout the house and set it next to me whichever room i'm in. I'm never more than an arms reach away from a loaded gun.

Always, old habit even though I live in a small town now. From an old Easyriders magazine ad, "You never know when you're goin' into a bad neighborhood" :scrutiny:

Under lawful carry circumstances:

If I'm wearing clothes, there's a gun under them.

Under circumstances where carry is unlawful, but nearby posession is:

I'm never more than 5 minutes from a gun, and usually less. Much less.

Under situations where the presence of a gun would be entirely unlawful:

I remain silent, and you'll just have to guess.

I carry from the time I get up to the time I go to bed. I have covered home Invasions to assaults to homicides. You never know when the gremials are going to be out. Mr. Murphy is still alive. Be prepared. I wear a seat belt all the time in a vehicle also.

Only time I don't carry is in bed but have a shelf that I reach up to and grab a gun.Places that don't allow I don't spend money in.
Bob

I am not entirely surprised by the majority of people that carry, carry almost all the time, but I was thinking there would an even percentage all the way down the poll. The majority of hunters and rifle and shotgun shooters that I know personally in my area do not mess with pistols. But this is the High Road. :D
