Another thing about the Garand- the oprod has a bit of delay built into it camming surface, so that its actually moving backwards for a fraction of a second (a very critical timeframe) before it starts to unlock the bolt. I would imagine with a shorter barrel, the dimensions of this camming surface would also have to be changed in order to compensate for the oprod moving back sooner. Add this to the position and size of the gas port on the barrel, its not something I'd want to monkey with considering that alot of people alot smarter than me perfected this rifle.

That puts me in the I kin fill em up with gas and change the oil class?:D

I did get that MKII put back together with a new straight pin first try.
