A prior thread about what to carry for self defense in NYC got me thinking.
I am "without a gun" in what most of you all would consider a high crime place.....NYC.
I've lived here my entire life and raised a family yet nobody in my family has been a victim of a violent crime (not including the attacks of 9/11).
Yea,I wish the gun laws in the city were not unconstitutional and opressive and I wish I could legally carry in my home city,I also consider my self to be fortunate not to have "needed" a firearm to defend myself so far.
I am well aware that the time may come when I really do need a firearm to get me out of an ugly situation but the bottom line is that I don't sweat it that much.
I am active in all things possible to preserve and protect gun rights city, state and nationwide....but the bottom line is I live here for better or for worse and I'm not willing to go to jail and leave my family to fend for themselves just for the "chance" that I might need a gun to protect myself.
I know alot of you think that sounds crazy and if I'm killed I will not be able to take care of my family anyway but these are the risks I must take for now.
Anyway...back to my question......how many of you are really uncomfortable or nervous when you go out unarmed?....and does where do you live have something to do with your decision to be armed or unarmed?
