Colt sold off the D frame hammer shroud rights to another company which not only continued to make them but added models for Smith J frames to boot. I almost remember the name and it's driving me daft!
Can anyone tell me who it was and if they're still in business?
I'm going to need them for a couple D frames and at least one S&W 36 ( more as I find them ) . I currently use a mod 38 Bodyguard but have to list make, model, and and caliber on CCW, but not the serial . I have the models 38 and 36 listed on my license. The 36's are the most commonly seen for sale around here and adding the hammer shroud to any I can snatch up means I can retire the mod 38. I'm on the look-out for models 36, 37, 38 and 49's. And Colt's D frames wherever I go.
I still say these guns will hit a 9" or 12" plate at 100 yards with ammo the gun likes. But only on single action, thus the shroud and hammer both.
