Opinions on this thread have been all over the map. Makes me wonder if I should risk my money on any pistol ever again.
Tamara, I can't provide you with pictures (unless I can get my buddy down in AR to send them) of an AMT Hardballer that not only worked, but has one of the best factory triggers I've ever felt, and is accurate as any pistol I've seen. (In his hands, not mine, of course).
This same buddy just bought a Llama
and had a local 'smith who works on the cheap tweak it for him. Well, he's got another inexpensive tack-driver.
On the flip side, I've seen a couple of guys send their vintage Colts to Ed Brown for hand-fitted barrels and all the other tweaks. And these guys are proud of their 18" groups off of sandbag rests.
The issues are accuracy and reliability. My three Kimbers are more accurate than I'll ever be. One of the three needed some major attention from a local gunsmith (mostly because I dropped it), another needed a break-in period, and the third so far has needed nothing.
While I've shot other 1911 brands, I've only owned Kimbers, so please take my comments in the proper context.
