Who thinks they have the most affordable AR-15

The Del-ton kits IMO are about the best value in ARs today. I built my no frills mid length on a DPMS lower with an an ACE ARFX stock and chrome lined barrel for about $650. I have run well over a thousand rounds through it without a single issue. I have put together 4 mall ninja speced kits from del-ton for some buddies and you simply can't beat their prices for upgrades. We all run Pmags and there has not been a single failure with these rifles. Are they as good as an LMT or Colt? Probably not but for my purposes, absolutely.

I paid $700 for my Colt Delta Hbar, which included the Colt cheekpiece, Tasco armored scope, and aluminum case. Oh, and it had the "special" Delta emblem on the pistol grip, too.

That was in 1987 or 1988, though. I could have gotten an HK91 from the guy at the same time for $800, but I didn't have the money.

I bought a Rock River CAR-15 with less than 500 rounds through it for $650.00 from someone on arfcom a couple years ago.

Also just built a 5.45 AR that I have less than $500.00 cash into (S&W Upper/Mega Lower/RRA Parts Kit/Vltor Stock) but there was quite a bit of using spare parts and trading for additional stuff, so the total investment is probably really higher. And I don't have an optic for it.

I am ordering some parts as we speak--

Del Ton 16" LW kit..$465 (not sure shipping)

McKay stripped lower $65 +$10 shipping...+$10 Xfer fee...

Should be able to do a build off this for under $600 w/shipping. I did find lowers for $59 this am, but I didn't bookmark the page...not sure if its worth squeaking out a few more dollars for..

oh, here it is...$59.95

well I happen to think that I have the ar with the highest quality to cost ratio.

DSA-Zm4 lower receiver
Spikes Tactical M4-LE upper
Magpul MBUS
YHM-light weight free float handguard
primary arms M3 style red dot

I've put in about 900$ into it so far

Actually, I have a Colt6920 with a Comp M3 that I paid $1k even for, but it was from my best buddy's widow, so don't really count. I paid a lot more in his loss than getting a good deal on the gun. :(

I had to jump on CDNN's S&W M&P15 optics ready carbine for $599 after rebate. Pick it up Monday. Tuesday it will get a rifle length free float quad rail forend, low profile gas block, YHM flip sights and Magpul furniture.

My problem has always been after I build a basic rifle for <$600, I will spend 3X that on accessories. None of my "bargain" rifles ae a bargain anymore!

Well my build last year came in at about $800 including iron sights, sling and one magazine. Not the most affordable AR but a great deal since it garners 18 checkmarks on the M4 Chart, tying LMT.

I have a cousin trying to build one for less than $600. I don't think he'll do it, especially since he ordered a bull barrel from somewhere. He didn't pay for the lower though, so maybe it's do-able.

Yep I went after one of the Cdnn $599 w/chrome barrel too...Alas they were already sold out so just got another CMMG chrome lined for $650.. Been very happy with their ARs. The Cdnn already had sights looked like what most try to sell for $1200
