Several weeks ago I was at the 50 yard range with my CZ-452. I having fun learning to use my scope. During the cease fire some guy complimented me on my goups and asked what caliber I was shooting.

I told him it was a .22. He acted like he didn't hear me right and asked if my rifle was a 22 magnum. I said no 22 LR. He told me I should he shoud be shooting something bigger.

I noticed he was shooting what looked like a Mini-14. near him were 4 other rifles that looked like AK's along with a couple of surplus ammo boxes filled with bullets. I asked him if they were his and he told me that he bought them because he was concerned of a future was presidential ban.

He started bad mouthing the president. Well I don't like talking politics and kind of backed away from the meaning to end the conversation.

At the next cease fire I overheard him telling an older gentleman that he was in law enforcement with the BATF.

I'm think he was a BS'er but it possible that this guy was working undercover?

BATFE agents usually aren't concerned with future bans (because they'll still get to play with the cool stuff, and it's job security)

I've met some real nuts at gunshops and ranges. People claim to be who they aren't (Special Forces, LE, feds), some people are just plain 'ol crazy.

Glad you are enjoying your CZ 452. Like many serious shooters, I send more than my fair share of .22 rounds downrange

Did you get a look at how well he was shooting? Bet he wasn't doing so hot...someone who derides .22s is often the kind of person that thinks that they don't need to practice...

I don't really care for the people that just start blurting out about politics. Discussion with friends? OK, politics is one of the subjects we'll cover. Dude at the range I don't know? I'm not bothering him.

Working "undercover" usually means not blowing your cover by telling someone next to you what you are doing. The guy was full of it. Unfortunately there are many folks out there that like to thump their chest and claim to be this, that or the other. Talk is cheap. I hardly talk politics amongst my friends, I'd never do it with someone I do not know. And just a reminder political talk is not allowed on THR.

Sounds like a goof to me. I love shooting .22s and the CZ 452 is a gun I would love to have. You have good taste.

haha i ran into one of those types. he was "ex -infantry special ops with like 60 Confirmed KIA's during his first 2 years". now this guy looked beat up and was definently not in physical shape.the funny thing is i personally have a friend that was a sniper during OIF in 04' ive seen his paperwork and i know its damn near impossible to get near 60' KIA's unless youre piloting a bomber. but i just stayed quiet complimented his kimber and he kinda got the " Im not beliving youre b-poop" vibe frome me so he quickly changed his attitude and we got along good after that, i even let him shoot my shotgun

HA, sad thing is,

it happens everywhere, when I was in the army I had a PSGGB (pull string, gun goes boom AKA artillery) guy run his mouth about being spec ops and start talking poop about the 82nd, to me and my buddies when we were out in fayetteville (fort bragg)

It doesn't help your case when you have a Field Artillery sticker on your car, and a unit tee shirt in on your rear seat, and I was out with most of my friends in platoon strength... funny was we walked out on the fight, after he got brown drawers.

Happens everywhere

One guy claimed he was in the army as a recon sniper with over a hundred KIAs and he used M21s, M40s, and a M45(whatever that is). He said many other things but he was losing the argument and he left saying "got to go my general is calling me" he said he was a corporal.

(this was over the internet through a chat)

I don't know about you guys, but a lot of these older homeless guys I have been meeting around here in Oregon have told me they are ex-KGB agents. After they inform me, I ask them how come they decided to live on the streets of Ameica after an eventful life of espionage and assassinations for the Russian government. Well, usually at this point they start talking about aliens and how George Bush is involved in the cover-up.

I don't know, but I have encountered this a few times... People, really do have some very bizarre stories.. :scrutiny:

People, really do have some very bizarre stories..

Hell, I can send ya to a gun shop in western Kansas where you'll hear stories like you ain't never heard before. I stopped in there just to look around, and the old fart talked to me non-stop for 3 hours! I think the best story was the 33 KBI agents that swooped in on his farm in a Blackhawk helicopter with rifles drawn, every one of which was just itching for the command to fire. Of course, he was mowing his yard at the time and didn't have his gun on him, so the commander wouldn't let them cut him to pieces. So they beat him half to death instead.

I never did get to look around much. I think he had more guns in that place than there are people in that whole county.

I could agree with you and share a story, but then I would have to kill all that read it.

Idiots like that are a dime a dozen.......If you believe half of what you see and none of what you hear you'll be just fine......

Now i have to get back to work....the oval office cant run it's self....:D

He was probably considering a run at the Presidency and feeling out the gun loving public, or looking for a sniper.......:uhoh:

im happy that nutjobs rarely get anyweapons overhere :p

/Radium Ex special finnish forces uber war god tacticul kgb agent/marsoc sniper

Hello friends and neighbors // The only time I go to the outdoor range and do not take a .22lr is when I go to shoot skeet.
Sound like the guys ideas about the joy of shooting differ from mine.

I took a .22 pistol to my CWP class, the smiles faded when two shots sounded like one and the instructor covered my 50 group with his hand.
I'd been shooting that .22 for years, it was my second gun, why not use it.;)

I wonder if people are confusing their play station games with real life
It's nice that you are somebody in a make believe world, but don't try to tell someone who has been there and seen that (and thankfully missed most of the doing) about what a swoopty sort of person you are, I have/had good friends who are the real deal, and the funniest thing is, they don't standout. Most real operators are more Wilson from Home improvement than Brad Pit from the movies.

It saddens me that none of y’all believed me. That’ll be the last time I tell you anything.

stop bad mouthing my "contact" now he might not drop the "package", thanks alot guys, now I will have to go back to my cornhole I mean colonel and tell him our "operative" has been "made"! there are few of us Black OP ex-KGB Super Recon Sniper Delta instructors Seal team 12 operators left training at local shooting ranges because of you "low intensity" types, geesh, get a clue!....................................mothership, come in mothership, wait you never read that!
