It might have been treated as only a domestic dispute, had it not been for the money, the methamphetamine and the guns found by investigating officers when they got there.

And then, there was his name: Charles Iannece Jr.

He is the 45-year-old son of jailed mob soldier Charles "Charlie White" Iannece, a killer who specialized in extortions and the meth business in the Nicodemo Scarfo mob in the 1980s.

So Iannece, a roofer, was arrested not only for allegedly beating up his girlfriend, Gina Pinto, 37, on Monday inside their third-floor apartment in South Philadelphia but also on gun and drug charges.

And now he has once again drawn the attention of the organized crime squad and South Detectives.

In 1989, Iannece Jr. drew the attention of authorities because he had delivered a controversial kiss on the cheek to Scarfo's son, Nicodemo, shortly before a gunman in a Halloween mask shot Scarfo Jr. five times on Halloween in a South Philadelphia restaurant. He survived the attack.

Yesterday, Inspector William Colarulo said police responded to an 11 a.m. call on Monday of a domestic dispute on 10th Street near Federal. Pinto, who had bruises on her face, told police she had been assaulted by Iannece.

Then, officers looked around and saw guns and other things. So they secured the apartment, and took the couple to South Detectives, where each was interviewed, according to Detective William Kerry.

The couple got into a heated argument and "she was smacked around," said Kerry.

Detectives then obtained a search warrant and confiscated $3,123, seven grams of meth, five handguns and a rifle at the apartment.

Kerry said police confiscated the weapons and Iannece's permit to carry them. "They're never left in a house where there's a domestic abuse," he added.

Iannece, who had no prior arrests, was charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, possession of an instrument of crime and drug delivery.

Iannece, Jr. is not a "made" member of the Philadelphia crime family, according to a law enforcement source.

Iannece's father, who specialized in extortion and meth activities, has served 15 years of a 40-year sentence on racketeering charges which included four murders and three attempted murders.

Iannece Sr., shot to death mob captain Pasquale "Pat the Cat" Spirito in 1983, helped dispose of the body of mob captain Salvatore Testa in 1984 and stalked victims or drove the getaway car in four other murder conspiracies, according to 1989 trial testimony.

Sounds like one bad dude. Glad he off the streets!
I've posted other "lessons" before related to not knowing who's behind the wheel of a car (IE: road rage, accidents, etc), but this is a good reminder that you never know who lives/visits a home you may visit if work brings you there or trouble does. Be vigilant.
