Wilson 47's with the Tripp upgrade.

Had problems with Wilson's followers. The slide stop shelf would wear and then while shooting it would push the slide stop out. Switched to Tripp's no problems in thousands of rounds. The Wilson followers would work great until about five hundred rounds through each magazine and would get messed up. I checked the slide stop and it has no burrs or anything that would screw up the followers.

Colt OEM magazines and Wilson 47's!!also have and like the 8rd chip mccormick's!!!all work and feed well!!the worst magazines i have owned were some pro-mag magazines horrible quality!!!!!! :banghead:

Tman,

The 7 round Colt mags are equal to the Wilson 7 rounders. One potential issue with a Wilson mag is the polymer follower. These polymer followers start showing wear from day one but I have not had one fail as of yet due to this wear. On the other hand, the Wilson 8 rounders are more reliable than the Colt 8 rounders in my experience. I switch my mags between 6 1911's and the Wilson 8 rounders function reliably in every gun, but the Colt 8 rounders do not. My Colt Delta Elite came with 2 Metalform mags which I felt were of flimsy constuction. I have to admit I never gave the Metalforms a chance and purchased 3 Wilson 10mm mags from Wilson Combat back when they offered them.

The ONLY mag 99.9%+ sucessful in every 1911 I have owned were the Wilson 7-rounders. I have also tried CM, Colt, Mecgar and Pachmayers over 20+ years.

W. Wolfe seven; "older" Wilson seven, Colt (within the past ten years) seven--there's a trend here--Kimber the same.

Yes, I know that eight round mags work(with care, attention and the "right" ammo.) I also know the 1917 two tone Colt mag I have left load for the past five years, still works, with Ball, in my 1918 mfg. GI Colt.

7rd Wilson mags for me. Thanks to all that replied. :)

Chip McCormick Power Mags in my Kimber. My local gunshop has 3-pack Springfield factory mags for $36.00. Don't know the manufacturer.

Although I don't have much experience (<1500 rounds so far through them) I've been using some random no name stainless bodies with wilson 7 round springs/followers. No problems yet. I picked up the bodies at at gun show for 6 bucks a pop and got the internals from midway for about $4.

I have the Kimber 7 shot flat follower with dimple that came with my TLE II. I bought 10 military mags that look very close to the Kimber mag. The only mag that has ever caused a problem for my TLE II was a McCormick 8 shot mag that gave me a FTF on the next to the last round. I have never used it since that FTF.

Wilson 8 rounders for .45 ACP.
Colt or Metalform 8 rounders for 10mm.

Cobra Mags in 10mm didn't work for me at all.

Wilson's, CMC Power mags, Kimber, and Colt mags have all been used in all my 1911's. I have replaced the springs and followers in all of them with Wilson parts and all of them work great. No problems at all. :)

Anybody know what Wilson mags fit flush and which have the black bumper?

None fit flush. Even the ones with the low-profle steel pad stick out of the magwell about 3/16s of an inch. I tend to get bit with flush-fitting mags during a reload, so obviously I dont like them..

I used Wilsons, Colt, Chip McCormick and Metalform. I really wish that Wilson made a flush fitting mag. For whatever reason I prefer the look of a flush fitting mag with a 1911.

I have the original mag for my '78 series 70, and it JUST started FTFing this year. It won't work at all now for some reason.

I have a stainless mag that can be taken apart, but I don't know what name it is. I bought it in '92, and it has always worked flawlessly.

I have a no-name 8 rounder, that works pretty good, but it can be a little picky about ammo.

I just bought a CMC 10 round PowerMag, and fed 200 rounds, (PMC, UMC, and Whitebox Win,) with no problems. It is also easier to load than any other mag I have tried, even on the 10th round. The extra bit sticking out is almost unnoticeable when firing. I am switching over to these.

I use Wilsons, Colt, whatever comes with the Kimber and a Les Baer. All work perfectly in my Baer 1911 - zero failures of any kind.
