Why are you at THR

U.S.SFC_RET:
Because of the commonality and bonding of the members of this particular forum. I have felt a trust with many members of THR. The civility experienced here is second to none. The subforums are very informative and the people who post to them knowledgeable. The moderators do a good job keeping the playing field level. The percentage of flaming is low.
There are many reasons why I frequent THR. RBKA issues and keeping abreast of them. Gun issues and the hows and whys. Rifles, Pistols, Shotguns on occaison. THR is one of the greatest gun forums of its kind. Please don't change a thing.

Nailed it perfectly! :D

Also, I enjoy learning from my Sensei sm. sm, your students await knowledge! :)

Yeah, where is sm anyway? I heard a while back he was in a rough patch. A few moments of silence for him and that would be nice. (of course moments of silence are just nice ways of saying prayer)

sm, we are praying for you and yours.

Why am I here?

Great info. Great people. Great topic(s). You guys literally taught me how to reload. I can't even express how much I've learned and how greatful I am. These are abvious. The meaty question is, why do I visit OTHER gun sites also.

Sometimes we need a place to scream about RKBA. This ain't that place. I also hit a couple of forums that have invite-only rooms. THR may have such a room, but I ain't been asked in. Certain things need to be discussed candidly... away from the eyes of general lurkers, miscreants and outright spies. I also don't mind a little off-color humor and/or foul language once in a while, so I hit arf, saiga and a couple of others.

For clean, wholesome, focused discussions and threads that stay OT, this is the place to be. I don't know if THR is the biggest (arf is probably bigger), but it certainly is the best forum for overall sharing of gun knowledge/opinion.

there are alot of great people here, and alot of good info, but more importantly there is alot of people that benefit, or could from what i have to say. there is alot of people on here that aren't getting the most out themselves in the way of defense, that could take thiemselves to the next level, lots of folks that think being good is good enough. there are alot of members here and very few of them have ever been to a professional training course, and there are many that think that they don't need it, i am here to change their minds, i am trying to open minds here and there if i can. I am trying to share my real world experience with people so they can learn what i have the hard way. i do my best to squash Internet bs as soon as i see it, and people that are parrots, that just spread the same things that they heard form so and so who heard ot form so and so that heard it from a guy that has been a "gun owner" for this many years, who heard it form a guy who has been reloading for this long so he must know what he is talking about when it comes to low light tactics( as an example) etc.

Sorry to hear that SASD209. The "senior member" status is based on post count, but keep in mind that just because someone has a high post count doesn't always mean they have many posts that count.
well said sir.

Yep, just look at me. I'm a senior member and don't know jack. But most of the time I'm asking questions.

Not directed at you, I just didn't want to copy your post verbatim and repost it, I done went and copied your name(sorta).

I was trying to post in the least confusing way possible, not putting anyone down. But there are a lot of folks like me that don't know a lot about a lot, but have a high post count from asking questions.

When you find a restaraunt that serves the food you like, you eat there. When the waitstaff is friendly, you come around more often. If the clientele are cool, you've found a hangout. :)

cool, forgive me, and thanks.

I'm too homely to be a gigolo, and have to do something with my time... oh, I'm sorry, that's why I work.

Actually, I look for specific info on occasion, THR comes up most of the time. So I dropped by, browsed a bit, and stayed.

Because TFL is down and I either find something to keep me occupied or Mrs. Grymster will.

Update:

That was a premature statement... just been assigned a trip to Costco and when I get back I need to start raking. I'm just holding her off while my laundry finishes.

Because the Moderators have shown great restraint and tolerance and not kicked me off.

:)

I was an obama nut, not too long ago. Then I realized how 2-faced he was... on guns, at least.

Before that I was a anti, who has seen the error of his ways.

Shooting guns is very fun too.

...because when you do Google searches for gun information THR keeps coming up as a source of info. And, to refine it further, to get experienced insight/advice/opinions on technical/hardware issues. The politically oriented stuff is exhausting and crazy-making, but even I, alas, "succumb" to the temptation sometimes and make the mistake of entering into such discussion threads even though I know better and that some things are best left alone...

I can haz intelligent conversation?

There's a boatload of knowledge here coupled with a level of courtesy and helpfulness rarely encountered on the net. It's a unique and enjoyable blend of savvy and civility.

I am sure this little spot in time and space sucks plenty of cash and time out of those who toil to make it what it is. Much obliged.

Another reason why THR. It is seriously difficult to post "guns for sale" in newspapers. when is the last time you actually seen rifles or much less pistols posted in a newspaper? Posting in THR for buying and selling has never been a problem. There is a very high level of trust especially since you can look at the post count and research the postings of the buyer or seller. No newspaper in the world can compare.
There are people on THR who Stick around This internet city called the THR. THR represents its own character and makes you come back. For the most part there are good people here.
