Why are you here?

Some time has passed since it has been asked why folks are online here at The Highroad.

Is it Guns only?

Do you have other interests, specific interests represented by our other Forum Headings?

Do you find our Library, Resources, or Search Function most useful to you?

I realize we have persons from all over the World that visit us.

I also know we have persons whom are anti-gun, whom peruse and use our Search function to dig up dirt in regard to anything that may be used against us. To skew data, misquote in hopes of building up respective causes.

I ask these persons to ask yourself honestly why you are here. Do YOU really feel the way you do? Do you really believe in your respective organizations mission statements?

Or have you been indoctrinated somehow and you needed a sense of belonging, and those organizations just happen to accept you?

You persons not sure of why you are here? Perhaps at a crossroad of life change; maybe your internet search engine directed you here – even by mistake and you keep coming back.

Why are you here?

Regards,

Steve

I visit The High Road to read and communicate with others who share some of my same interests. Unwilling to bash my native state, there aren't too many of us left in California, and it is nice to know you aren't the only one who believes in self defense.

Other interests include computers (I miss the round table) and "high power" hobby rocketry. The later hobby has Schumer and Lautenberg as sworn enemies. (Small world, enh?)

You folks over in "shotguns" have saved me no end of time and probably no small amount of money by keeping me away from false starts and dubious choices. Getting back into the hobby after 25 years can be a bear.

Ditto ...

I enjoy the honest discussion that goes on between people who understand the passion, and respect the seriousness of our interest.

There is a common thread regarding personal safety, and we solicit input from many with more experience that we might otherwise have for an issue.

We recongize the responsibility we all have as contributors to our great society, and we don't take any of our freedoms for granted.

We respect the rights of anti gunners, and take pride in explaining why we feel the way we do. We are all mature enough to realize we are not going to convince everyone to join us, but will take the time to explain it over and over again if needed.

I am here to gain from the knowledge and experience of the wise members of this group -- and I don't say "thanks" often enough to those of you generous enough to share your wisdom with us. So, Thanks!

It's not just "guns" that bring me back here, it's the fundamental decency of the group dynamic and the wide range of experience you all bring to the board. Truly, many of you have been 'dere and done 'dat and you bring a strong sense of reality to the discussion.

I try to contribute back when I can but it seems like too little for what I've received.

I've gone through the library and related links during slack times and had many hours of fun.

I read a lot and post little, but that's just the way I am in person, too.

I appreciate this site's low level of tolerance for trolls, conspiracy theorists, general loons and neer-do-wells, and and for truly taking "the high road" in the discussions. This is a site I can read in front of my wife and kids and I appreciate that. It's the only gun-related site I browse.

So anyway, Oleg and Mods, thanks for keeping up the good work.

I am pretty much with Brrlgrrl. It is an opportunity to share your interests with others and to learn from other people. It's hard to do that in person when you have a job and social commitments. THR is a very convenient way of communicating.

Well other than SM I guess I am old hand in this thread.

Why am I here.

Well I am an American and I believe in the right to keep and bear arms. I believe that it is something that makes us what we are. Not gun nuts, not baby killers, just good honest folks who take care of their own.

I am here because I find gun folk to be some of the nicest, most upstanding folks I have ever met.

I am here because I belive in a community that helps others out even when they have never seen the face of those they might be helping.

I am here because no matter how dysfunctional we "gun nuts" can be, we are a family and family sticks together no matter what.

I am here because I need to be. We all need to be.

I am here because I Pledge Allegience......nuff said.

Jim March brought me here (I followed a link from packing.org to one of his messages here). Since then I've been absorbing the ideas I read here. My, it's getting busy in my brain, but it's a lot more interesting than it used to be.

I used to think that libertarians were wacky. Now I think they pander to the mainstream. The debates I read here had a lot do with that.

I got into reloading, too. The great folks in the reloading forum have been instrumental in saving me from my own stupidity on several occasions.

At least half the time, I am here because it gives me a place to put my mind on other things while I ponder how to get myself out of whatever fix I got myself into at work.

.........ohhh yeah there was something about guns and shooting too and a debate about .45 vs. 9mm, AR vs. AK. Something like that. :D

I am here because of the people that I meet online who share the same interest in the gun field. I can also get a pulse on the public's view about the Right to Keep and Bear Arms among people who share our common point of view. Our right to RBKA and where it's going deserves forums like THR.

I like to think that I have friends here. To me its about being able to talk about firearms and the things that go along with it. This is a place that you can be a gun nut and its a good thing!

I like to think that I have friends here.

You do and that is the point. We are a minority, a family that needs to stick together. We need to always put the BS aside and come together as one. Because when we do we are Strong.

Write your elected reps. as one.
Support your other gunnies as one.
Show the world that we are a family not a cult.

Well other than SM I guess I am old hand in this thread.

Ok now that both SM And Standing Wolf have posted I guess that make me a wet behind the ears, young pup. So forget about that old hand thing, I am just a downright newbie. :D

I'm here because night shifts at work are slow and there's nothing good on tv.

Oh, the other three years I've been here have been for the wealth of information. The techincal stuff is great, and the scenarios/experiences of others offer food for thought as well.

The pics are cool too

I am here to get the low down on what weapons people have in their homes...

I work for the leftie gun grabbing side of the gov. I work out of an office in calif.

whos next????

woa woa..... don't ban me for that. LOL :what:

anyhow... I am here to get info, about guns, shooting, reloading, sometimes I give a little info. and I like to B.S. about our passion!

and this site totaly rocks the gun related forums

keep it up The Hight Road!

I enjoy sponging all the knowledge I can about handguns, rifles, and shotguns. I have hobbies, and this is one of my biggest. It's also nice to see I'm not the only one when it comes to certain views...seeing other people's opinions is important to me because I like to see things from as many views as possible before making up my mind. Thanks for all the great info and I look forward to much, much more.

Information, inspiration, debate, etc.

I came here originally for information when I wanted to buy a new firearm. I stay for a few reason. I stay for information on firearms, I stay for inspiration of what I might want to try next, and I stay for the debate/exchange of ideas and beliefs. I sometimes find people's views, opinions, and experiences enlightening to the point where I have had to reconsider so beliefs of my own. Other times I have my own beliefs confirmed when confronting zealots or people who I feel are a little overboard. But I always want to be here if just to be a liberal voice of reason (even if I am not always reasonable) and not let the righties have the whole spotlight. Plus, I want to be visible and let people know that not all of use fit the mold that most people perceive to be a gun owner. There are a few gay, socially liberal, fiscally conservative, animal loving, tree hugging, pistol packers out and about. :)

PS. It sure beats watching American Idol with my partner.

I'm here because it's the next best thing to shooting the breeze at the range, where I don't get as often as I would like due to the demands of my current job.

I'm here because I can get intelligent, experienced-based answers when I ask "technical" questions. Like others, I've gotten good advice before making purchases, have been steered toward good sources of information, and otherwise benefited from the vast collective experience of this crew.

I'm here because many of the less-than-intelligent, theory-based answers are entertaining, if not enlightening. A thread doesn't have to be edifying to be fun.

I'm here because I needed a new home when TFL shut down ... and I've stuck around ever since.

I'm here because "post count" doesn't matter. I can read lots of entertaining stuff with no pressure to weigh in on anything.

I'm here because I'm among friends, even if we don't know everyone's real name.
