Taurus 24/7 9mm 3.3" compact (17 + 13 round mags): $300 + FFL

Taurus 24/7 9mm 4" full size (two 17 round mags): $275 +FFL

Why are the compact version more expensive? shouldnt it be cheaper since it's less material?

A couple of reasons. First, material cost is only a small part of the cost of any product. In a firearm it's probably less than 20%. If one model is produced in smaller volumes than another model, the labor and overhead that gets added to the material cost is higher, this probably accounts for some of the difference. Also, sometimes a compact will require tighter tolerances to function properly. It all adds up.

Finally, there are marketing factors at work. Marketing positions models at various retail price points, and they make different profit margins on various models. The price points are selected to differentiate features and to position their models in relation to their competition.
