I have a P2000 DA/SA in .40 that is an awesome gun and has been flawless!
I have a P-01 that has been Flawless also....
I have a Kahr P 9 that has been ditto like the other two....
But for some reason I keep on thinking I want a Glock.
I like guns with a decocker and the P-01 and H&K fill that hole up, I have a Colt 1911 and a Ruger .45.
I dont even feel that the Glock is all that safe with an easy pull of the trigger. (I'm not trying to open up a can of worms but I have heard stories of Glocks being accidentally fired....
So what gives? Why do I want one? I even think there kind of ugly but my H&K is no beauty queen either......drf

Because you don’t have one?
Now that I have my favorite (A Sig) I want/need to have a variety of handguns. I've never been drawn to Glocks but I have no doubts that one will eventually be added to my collection. Why? Because I don’t have one :)

You want one because you want to experience everything at the buffet. It also means you want to form your own opinion rather than accepting the opinions of strangers on the internet.

I own many flavors too: 1911s, BHPs, CZs, Kahrs, Kel-tecs, revolvers, AKs, ARs, 10/22s, and almost a dozen Glocks. Life is too short to limit yourself to one flavor. :)

best regards

Midlife crisis? Feeling spunky? Ready to live dangerously? :uhoh: How about a Glock in Thunderwear for some adventure? :what: Maybe you want to join the darkside
Whatever the reason, it can't hurt to try---except maybe the Thunderwear! :scrutiny:

Buy a cheap police turn in G19 through CDNN, get those wild oats spent now. Shoot it, groan, and go back to the PO1...and make the G19 a safe queen. Expensive itch....

'cause you want all the 1911 guys to laugh at you ? :p

I've been where you are, and had to have one too. I ended up buying two.

The responses posted above are right on the money.

Quit whinin' about it and go get one :neener:

Who are you trying to kid here... the rest of US ??? You know you can't resist.

Each of us has a dark side, Glocks cater to that. Why ? I don't think anyone really knows.

Do like I did, use false justification. 'I could use it for a truck gun, if it gets scratched up oh well... it's only a Glock... if I lose it I'm only out about 4 bills... not like the rolls royce 1911, or the P7... yeah... I NEED a Glock :D

Get one and don't tell anyone about it, nobody will know... trust me

Coudnt my H&K be considered going to the dark side? Its extremely close to a Glock...drf

Not the same.

HK has a LONG history of time tested, battle hardened weapons. They have earned their regal place in the annals of weapon history. They are true aristocracy.

Glocks, are different. The first thought of owning one makes you a little queasy, then the denial sets it. Then you find yourself looking at Glocks, thinking of all the dirty, heinous things you could do to one and nobody would care... it's only a Glock. You might even feel a little 'dirty' after being with a Glock the first time.

While you wouldn't think of having your Glock where anyone whose opinion matters might actually see you two together, you know in the dark corners of the shooters mind, you're gonna do that Glock and you're gonna do it hard. Your gonna feel dirty, you're gonna feel rough and you're gonna feel like an uncivilized wild animal, but make no mistake...

You're gonna do that Glock and nothing is going to stop you

And you're gonna go back, when nobody's looking :)

Go and rent one at the range if you can. I just don't like Glocks because of the trigger. You pull them about 3/4 and then hit a brick wall and have to muscle it to make it break. My HKs and 1911 have spoiled me rotten.

Boofus is right about the trigger, different from anything else I have fired. The 3½ lb trigger kit helps a lot, but the feel is the same, just lighter, so the stack up isn't as noticeable.

From a practical standpoint, you can usually find a used G22 or G17 for cheap.

I saw a Indiana LE G22 turn in at the show today for $300. The same thing with night sights for $320. The finish had some holster wear to it, but otherwise they looked fine. The fellow selling them had a number of them and they were being snapped up pretty fast.

Some people like third gen's only, I like the second gen guns, without the finger grooves. If you pick up a first or second gen gun, and you want to do any caliber conversion (9mm -40SW-357 Sig etc), make sure the generation you end up with can handle the conversion safely.

A popular conversion is from the G33 (.357 Sig) to G22 (40SW) to save a few bucks on range ammo. This is no problem at all, a barrel change and you're good to go.

However, it is also popular to swap calibers from the 40 cal to the .357 Sig, for more power (sic). Some early G22's won't handle the .357 Sig cartridge safely (per published info from Glock). IIRC, something about the frame strength required to adequately handle the extra power of the .357 Sig.

Otherwise, they can be a useable gun to have around. They always go bang when I want them to, simple to strip and easy as pie to work on should you want to. They make a great gun for a spare if you take a newbie to the range (of course all safety rules and precautions apply), or if you fish they're great for the boat.

Cheap, easy, will do almost anything you ask them too, just like a ... well... you know ;)

Flame suit on :).

Get a Glock, and get several of your friends that have those "other" semiauto handguns. Go to the range with several thousand rounds of ammo, and see how many times your Glock malfunctions, and see how many times those "other" handguns malfunction. I'll wager the out of the box Glock will be more reliable than any of the "other" semiauto handguns out of the box.

Glock...the most loved and most hated handgun on the planet. I think that most people that hate the Glock hate it they are just jealous :).

Just my .02,

I dunno about that, my Mark 23 has never malfunctioned once, even when dripping wet with suppressor juice, carbon, grime and with a 1 lb suppressor hanging off the end.

Back when I used to own Glocks, my G26 had a FTFeed once. :neener:

Why do I want a Glock?
Because 33 round mags are fun.

I dont like glocks. They point high. The trigger sucks. They have cheap plastic sights. They have a cheap plastic toy gun feel. They're ugly and have no soul. I had one. I didnt like it, so it was traded in.

Since the death of the AWB, I've been considering another glock to replace the one I had. The reason? 33 round magazines are fun.

I'm bringing a G17 home next Friday.

Ironicly, the same could be said for 1911s.

When I first thought about getting a Glock 19, many of my friends derided my desire to have a combat tupperware. Most of these guys were into guns long before I was and I respected their opinions. Unfortunately, I let their opinions influence my selection. I purchased a Sig P239. A fine, well-made gun that has been completely satisfactory. I still ended up getting the Glock and I like it much better that the 239. The 19 still goes to the range with me while I haven't had the Sig out of the safe since who knows when (been at least 5 years). Can't really say why the Sigs don't do it for me, but I have a 229 9mm that's only had 50 rounds through it and it's been in the same predicament about 3 years now. Bottom line is if you want the Glock, you'd better get one and not settle for anything else. Safety wise, I've never had problems with my Glocks (meaning I've never gotten careless). Follow the basic rules and you'll never have a problem. I carry a G26 almost daily during the summmer. My 19 or 23 goes with me during the rest of the year.

You should see if you can pick up another one from the SEAL's. They have a bunch of unfired, uncarried ones!

Glocks shoot well. That's really all there is to it. If you try one and like it, great. If not, also great. Try something else. If you think you shoot acceptably well with what you have now, don't switch.

Spend more time shooting, less time playing with your gear.

You dont! Real guns are made out of steel! I sold off all my Glocks! yea there reliable, but they feel blocky and cheap in my hand! If you don't like 1911's buy some Sig's or somthing! :D

The Glock, XD, and other pistols with similer trigger safetys are not very forgiven of people who can't keep thier finger off the trigger. For this who are in a habbit of having said finger on the frame or trigger guard don't have a problem with ADs.

Because:

1) They are utterly reliable.

2) They are light to carry.

3) Their operation and maintainence are simple.

4) Because of their utilitarian look, you don't mind if it gets dropped, dinged, scuffed, run over, drenched, etc.

That's why.
