..could it be that much of the world has become perverted in it's view of right and wrong...??

a closer comparison, libs don't like Bush for the same reason Arabs don't like Jews.....no real rational reason....I don't like Bush beacuse he presents himself something he isn't ( a conservative)...America has been the leader in standing up for the liberties of the INDIVIDUAL....many people of the world wan't to led around by someone, not lead themselves and being responsible TO themselves....

..or could be it that our government has a tendency to stick its nose into other people's business?

..could it be that our government is determined to play global cop?

..could it be that we Americans have let our government slip its lease and dig up the neighbors garden?

Bush is only the latest in a line of incompetent Foreman we've hired to run our shop.

..imcompetent leaders is a world-wide disease...I am not professing American purity, but most of the other nations around the globe certainly can't...as to meddling, it would be heaven to govern only ourselves but we are stuck together on this earth and too nations are too busy hating other nations and causing grief....and the grief often only spreads unless checked by someone...

One word, Bush

Yeah, right, because NOBODY hated America before Bush

The "one word" is jealousy.

Jealousy over our wealth.
Jealousy over our power.
Jealousy over our influence (political, economic and cultural).

Throw in a dash of hatred of our openness and tolerance and there you have it.

..could it be that our government is determined to play global cop?
Ironically most of those who hate us ASKED us to play global cop and would hate us just as much if we didn't.

Hatred of the US is nothing new. We have been hated since this country was founded. The British disliked us for a long time after the Revolution. They tried to snuff as out again in the war of 1812. Even progressive British writer Charles Dickens did not have many nice things to say about this country. In the last 50 years it has more too do with our meddleing in world affairs that has caused angst against this country. Some of this is well founded especially in the Middle East and South/Central America.

a lot of people like to hate American within America...but would refuse to leave for that 'vague puritanical out there somewhere that doesn't exist'....third-degree hypocrisy and self-suicide..attackng the nation that gives you more liberty than any other nation...

The US government's endless meddling in other countries' affairs probably has something to do with it.

To believe Dubya is the reason so many people hate us, one would have to conclude the 9/11 hijackers began planning their operation in late January 2001. Furthermore, those that tried to blow up the WTC in 1993 would have required the power of clairvoyance.

Hate US?

I tend to think that question is too long, wide, and deep for any one answer to cover. Jealousy/Envy? Sure. Power and influence? Yep. Meddling? Right again. We meddle in economic and political arenas during times of potential upheaval in order to...in the immortal words of Deputy Barney Fife...
"Nip it in the bud." If we'd meddled a bit more in Western Europe in 1935, we may have been able to avert the most costly war of modern times in terms of human life and sheer suffering...but we waited.

The statement:

>Ironically most of those who hate us ASKED us to play global cop and would hate us just as much if we didn't.<
***************

Carries more truth than one sentence can convey. They ask for our help and hate us for being able to provide it. Look at France. Look at Great Britain, who would have been overrun by the Nazi Blitzkrieg by 1943 had we not stepped in, and while professing to be our ally, rips us up the back in their press and in Parliament at every opportunity. Central America...They want our money so that the corrupt governments can siphon it off for God only knows what...and then they use propaganda to send the population into the street, hanging Uncle Sam in effigy and screaming "Yanqui go home!" and murdering our volunteers who come to help, including doctors, nurses, and even Nuns. Look at the Japanese, who gratefully took all that we gave in terms of money and materiel after the earthquake in the 20s...and staged a sneak attack on Pearl Harbor less than two decades later.

I guess it all boils down to the old adage that misery loves company. They really would love to drag us down to their level, and impose THEIR ideas of
life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. No thanks. I'd love to cut'em off and stay out of their miserable little affairs...and let'em figure out a way to stop the next Hitler or Saddam or Tojo from having his way. Let'em figure out how to feed their populations...and how to keep the starving masses from
hanging them in the street the way the Italian people did Mussolini once they discover the real truth about their benevolent leaders.

They'll hate us for it...but they do anyway.

Many also oppose the trend toward liberalism(sex, drugs, abortion, athiesim) which western culture(US as a large part) has promoted.

Sounds like everyone else hit it on the head.

1.They see what we have, they dont like it and they dont want us to have it either.
2. They see what we have, like it and want it for themselves but are completely unable to have it.

Excuses:
Bush
Republicans
Religion
etc whatever it is they want it and they cant have it so they get pissed off and try and kill us. To me its about that simple.

Foreigners envy us, hate the fact that we can advance and they can't.

As for our own, we've bred a large population of mockers, smart asses, and spoiled brats, aided and abetted by an educational system that has no clue about what has made America strong and great. You can't teach rugged individualism from the safe confines of the faculty lounge.

Not hate....abhor would be more correct I think

I have spent over two decades and close to 10 countries to try and understand what it is about me (and you if you are American) that seems to just make people of other nations sneer at us.

I have heard them call our military; "Chocolate Soldiers" refering I believe to what they concieve it to be a volunteer structure of 'neer-do-well' buffoons.

I have heard them call our political structure; 'Zionists' (a play on Z.O.G)?

To "Them", Americans are foolish children who are fat and spoiled, lazy and arrogant, stingy and stupid. Maybe this is the picture American tourists impress upon them.

I think that after some thought (not that much really), we are everything that "They" are. But they see us when we vacation, not when we work. They see us when we are retired and lazy, not young, poor and proud. They see our restraint as weakness and our fighting (winning) spirit as being bullying. With "Them" we will never be anything positive, but they still envy us our generousity, our initiative, our cohesiveness under fire, our ability to tackle anyone and almost anything.

In short, it is Sweet and Sour Pork (chicken for the non-pork eaters). In essense, they perhaps find us bewildering that we can be of one political thought, yet admire and accept other politics without resorting to bloodshed.

We are known for complicating simple problems and being simple with complicating issues. We take sides yet have no idea what the issues really are (e.g Middle-east). We don't practice what we preach, and we preach to those that don't practice our beliefs.

Who else but Americans (including of German and Italian descent) would storm out of a landing craft into a hail of lead, on French soil, to fight other Germans and Italians holding French soil, and everyone hates the French?

Time for a Vodka after contemplating this. Cheers.

They're jealous of [things I personally like about America].

They're upset about [things I personally dislike about America].

Everyone go ahead and fill in the brackets in whatever way makes you feel better. :neener:

Unless I see some well-done scientifically sound polls (incredibly hard to do on this topic), I'm not going to bother.

The United States Government is the most meddlesome force on the face of the globe. It interferes with other governments and peoples for a variety of reasons, mostly bad. The US government meddles in some countries so rich Wall Street crooks can make a lot of money. Sometimes the US meddles in the affairs of nations in response to powerful ethnic and religious lobbies who have a say in American foreign policy. Lots of people are ending up dying or suffering from the use of this arbitrary power. I don't know how these Neo-Conservative lackeys can just say to a Palestinian who has had his house bulldozed or a Serb who has had his house bombed that "Oh, you are just jealous of our way of life."

Its a shame how some very powerful, very cynical people are taking advantage of the hyper-aggressive animal instincts of the hicks, rubes and bumpkins in flyover country, getting them to hate people living thousands of miles away for no good reason. I like the hicks, rubes and bumpkins better than the deracinated, bohemian liberal elite in NY and Los Angleles, but man, are they being decieved! Some days I don't know whether to laugh or cry.

Simply Put we are a Christian Nation with Christian Values. As a Christian Nation we support Jews.

The world hates Christians and Jews. They have been persecuted for Thousands of years.

For those of you who are non believers you'll not see nor understand these principles. Nor will you comprehend these wars.

I do not know of a practicing Christian nor Jew who does not understand this totally and completely.

Perhaps if you were to pick up the most widely read book in history and read it a bit you may come to understand as well what is at stake and Why.

You may call BS. I call ignorance. :uhoh:

Why do so many people hate Bush?

Because they've been indoctrinated for several years now with "Bush is Bad" via major media. You say the same thing, and repeat it often enough, and people come to believe it.

Whether it is true or not.

Bush isn't a media star. He isn't good at it, the way Reagan or Clinton were... But that's what we now seem to expect from our presidents...
