Why do you Limit Yourself?

I shot an Alaskan 454 today for the first time. All I have to say is WOW. It is powerful and you can feel the vibration from pretty far away when someone shoots it. We had everyone in the range watching. I do have to admit that it was a little overkill for the paper targets. It was fun to shoot but it in general it is overkill for most situations.

Some folks limit themselves because they do not make a 600 Magnum....yet:what:

Ever heft that BIG handgun around CCW style in a hot muggy summer? Yeah, not so cocky now are ya. :neener:

Why lug a firetruck around when all you need is an extinguisher.

I am pretty sure the .460 Rowland is the same diameter bullet as the .45 Automatic.
There is a such thing as too much and trying to defend oneself with too much gun is just as bad as too little.

I'll keep my 340pd in each front pocket with Buffalo Bore LSWCHP 38+p thank you very much. Most days are above 100deg for most of the summer and fall.

I have to at least try to control myself so I don't have a bunch of different types of ammo and bore brushes lying around. Most of my rifles are of the .30 or .22 variety and most of my handguns are of the .38/.357/9mm and .22 variety.

Raising the power level does not automatically make it better. We see the forest where you just see a tree.

1911 guys, there exist conversion kits for .460 Rowland - which, AFAIK, does not reduce capacity. You can shoot a larger bullet faster than .45 ACP.

I expect that most of y'all know these things, and still continue to carry your comparatively 'underpowered' cartridges. A more powerful cartridge doesn't always require a major change in platform.

There are those who are given duty weapons and can't change 'em, who have medical issues and can't have too much recoil, etc. I don't think that applies to all of us here.

Why do you choose to limit yourself, knowing that handguns are underpowered at best?

LOL, I never thought of my .45 acp as underpowered.

You have obviously never tried to shoot much .460 Rowland.

Naw, but he thinks we should go with non-native trees in our own lawns instead of what grows there naturally.

Why "limit myself to...?"...
Well, I'll tell you. Yeah, there are plenty of calibers and cartridges that waay out perform my 45acp. I find most of them interesting but will likely never own them.
Basicly, I'm well satisfied with 45acp. I'm set up to reload it for target and competition, if I ever get back into that. Around the house, I keep it loaded with Rem Golden Saber 230s because that's what the local PD uses. There is no legal CC here in Wisconsin.
I like my 1911, 45acp, and I'm pretty good with the combination. And until I can CC, I'm satisfied more than limited.
