Why i prefer cross draw.

I like the cross draw position but I use the twist draw. And no, you don't flash yourself if you do it right.

If as has been mentioned you need to draw from a cross rig with your week hand, you are performing a twist draw. And, you are quite correct that done properly you do not sweep any part of you anatomy or anyone else's that you do not want to.

I can't do a twist as fast as a cross, but I'm the first to admit I haven't practiced the twist draw as much as a cross.

Another place where the cross-draw "fits" is in the winter time when you're wearing a heavy coat.
It's near impossible to quickly access a strong-side holster with the coat fastened, but with a cross-draw all you have to do is lift the tail of the coat to get to the gun.

My preferred carrie is as close to 3 o’clock as possible.I carrie a sa 45 or a coonan classic ,but the coonan is recent.I have found in over 30 years of carry that behind the hip doesn’t work all the time.Cross draw in a high ride vertical holster just works almost all the time.sitting/ wearing a snowmobile suit/arostich riding suit/horse back/bowhunting and I can draw and shoot with either hand (lots of practice)
I DON’T LIKE CROSS DRAW! But it works best most of the time for my lifestyle .

I have lately been using a full size GLOCK in a pouch as a secondary carry gun. My Smith and Wesson 638 in my strong side pocket is the EDC/Always gun. The Glock17/22 is carried in the pouch strong side with a shoulder strap across from the left shoulder. When in the car however the pouch is shifted to the cross draw/left chest area and seatbelt engaged. The pouch stays in place and gives me easy access via cross draw to the GLOCK while driving. It is a great "concealed in plain view" option. As I exit the car the pouch easily slides back into a strong side position.

For EDC, my preference is appendix or strong side, depending on the gun used. In the fleld, cross draw is my method. When bird hunting with the dogs and there is hound/black bear action in the vicinity, it's nice to have the blackhawk or N frame handy, in a position that is not dinging up my buttstock when I cradle my shotgun.

I have the classic objection to crossdraw in general that it sweeps everyone from 45 degrees behind the holster to the target in front.

I'm not seeing the issue here.

If I'm pulling the gun in a defensive situation it's with the intent to use it.

Any bystanders have a lot more to worry about than being muzzle-swept.

I agree with your statement as far as it goes but I like to practice with my CC gear and I often do so in the presence of others. I practice much more often than I am presented with a defensive situation so I try not to worry bystanders by sweeping them. The club I shoot at frowns on such shenanigans.
