My suggestion is to amke your "pit stop" as soon as you both enter the range area and not after you are in the shooting bay.

My wife and I have an agreement.

I trust that she can handle herself and those around her in all situations. I don't get involved in "protecting/saving" her unless she lets me know she needs help.

We have been together for over 25 years and she hasn't needed my help yet.
