Just throwing this out there, as I have my heart set on a Milt Sparks VM2 for my new Springfield full size 1911... and am dreading the 12-16 week wait.

Will a full size 1911 fit in a molded IWB holster (like the VM2) made for a Browning Hi Power?

Anyone tried?

Thanks.

Here's my experience. I bought a 1911 last night and already own a Hi-Power. The Bianchi Accumold I bought for the 1911 says the BHP also fits. In the Accumold the 1911 fits just right, and the Hi-Power is just a bit loose. In my Hunter brand leather belt slide for the BHP it, the BHP, fits just right, but the 1911 is just a bit too tight in it. If you get a holster with a tension adjustment screw it shouldn't be a problem though. The slide and mag releases on the two pistols are different as you know, but only slightly, and they line up darn near identically in the holster. So the answer is that more or less the holsters will fit both, but no holster will fit like a glove for both.

ugaarguy said everything accurately. I will only add that some 1911s with adjustable sights, such as a Gold Cup won't fit because of the sights.

Anything with an open nose should interchange just fine... but a fitted holster? The slide/nose of a BHP is a LOT skinnier than a 1911, it might not work.

Though one made for a 1911 will fit a BHP.

My Blade-Tech holster for my 1911 fits my BHP just fine. I tightened the screws sligthly, but it holds just fine.
