Will Ammo Prices Ever Fall?

Don't count on it. Even if they did, Obama and his buddies in Congress will likely see to it that ammo gets taxed plenty enough to make up the difference...

Yahoo

my Hornady LnL AP #1 Shellplate arrived today. You think ammo is scarce!! Try buying reloaders, parts, and components. :uhoh:

Screw the ammo, I'm loading up on the raw materials to make the ammo.

In a week the #6 and 10 should arrive.

Buying this stuff is like the "market". Dollar cost average, buy a little on the way up and buy it on the way down, fore it will come down and the price averages out. Nothing, absolutely nothing goes up "forever". If you think so ask the folks who thought the market was never going to come back down.

Highly unlikely, as that issue has come up before...

"A state cannot impose a license, tax or fee on a constitutionally protected right. Murdock vs. Pennsylvania 319 US 105 (1942)."

If a state can't do it, then the FedGov certainly can't. Unconstitutional is unconstitutional.

Oh, and there can't be any registration, either.
"The U.S. Supreme Court broadly and unequivocally held that requiring licensing or registration of any constitutional right is itself unconstitutional. --Follett vs. Town of McCormick, S.C., 321 U.S. 573 [1944]"

Lots of worldwide demand for metals in general and not just ammo. Mining companies worldwide have been cautiously gearing up for more production but the capital investiture required has not been attractive to companies who are unsure of future demand. Now, however, with China and India clearly emerging (as they have been for quite some time now) as countries whose citizenry want a higher standard of living, the mining companies are (and have been) increasing production to meet demand. AT SOME POINT ammo prices will go down relative to their prices now but it's likely that we won't ever see what we would consider "cheap" ammo again.

I long for the days when a couple of my favorite gun stores were practically giving away .223 ammo because they'd bought pallets of it and no one was really shooting ARs (mid to late 90's).

Yeah, because the govt (and those in it, like Obama and his ilk) would never and have never done anything unconstitutional... like infringe of the 2nd amendment...

Who knows?

I have a very bad feeling about this Administration's intentions (heh, who doesn't?) and my philosophy is "Pray for the best; prepare for the worst". The ".gov" website already makes it quite clear that this Administration plans to reinstitute the AWB among other things and who is to say that there are no plans to "go after" (in some manner) ammunition as well?

If you've already "stocked up", buy even more while you still can. If you haven't "stocked up"....well....time is short.

It is not too late until it is too late.

Well on the bright side if they ban "assault weapons", ARs, AKs or if they grab our guns.. Demand for ammo will certainly go down and maybe it will be cheaper, on the black market that is, LOL.. Assuming we can get ammo.

:(:(:(:(

Well, then again, that isn't the kind of price drop I hope for.

In reality, the better living standards of other countries is one major reason for the lesser living standards over here. With incredibly overpopulated countries like China and India gobbling up resources and increasing their consumer base, you will find a major competition for precious raw materials, which at one time were not of great importance or desired by any, but the few low populated industrialized nations. Now, with these heavily populated countries in demand for materials, we will find ourselves struggling.

One thing that bothers me is how everyone is celebrating the low oil prices. People don't realize how volatile a market that is. All it will take is some arab sheiks having a bad day to skyrocket those prices again. Until we drill for our own oil and have a steady supply of our own natural resources, my prospects are not high for the economic situation ahead.

Ummm---Harold - the mining world tanked in the last 3 months..........BHP just let 6,000 go---and all the biq equip manufacturers are on layoffs/reductions worldwide (I'm with one).

We dont project this to turn around till late "09---more likely in 2010

Not until two things happen.

1 the demand drops.

2 they go thru thier stock of materails they have on hand that they paid $$$$ for.

Umm..sjohn26...I'm a mining engineer working in the mining world. While demand is down RIGHT NOW, exploration continues and most companies have been buying up reserves left and right. The mining companies are laying off to have cash in the short-term because most are over-capitalized with the ramp-ups that they've been doing. Recovery in 2010 is short-term. My statement holds true.
